I installed Windows XP in my XPS M1330. Everything seems to work fine except DVD sound. When I play any DVD with Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.0, I get a lot of static in the DVD audio.

I've installed all the latest drivers I can find -- some of which are linked in this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=153941.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or has any idea what could fix the problem?

Note that I also tried using interActual Player 2.0, which came with a movie DVD I rented. That returned the following error:

Error PL4014: Playback failed due to an error with the audio subsystem.
Your currently installed audio driver may not be fully compatible with
DirectX. Please close any DirectSound applications that are using the sound
card. If the problem persists, you may need to upgrade or reinstall your
sound card driver. Click the "Help Online" button (bottom button on the
left) to find out more information.

I ran dxdiag (per this other thread's recommendation http://www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t468833-inter-actual-20-help.html) to test the sound, but the DirectX Diagnostic Tool says all tests were successful.
