I have a new XPS 1530 & was trying to find the specs on the components & couldn't find any. Could someone tell me the specs, or where I can find them on my computer? I'd like to find the following:

    Ethernet -- 10/100 OR 10/100/1000
    Firewire (1394) -- 400 or 800

Also, for the wireless card for Intel WiFi 4965AGN 1) is it dual band, 2) what speed (Mbps)?

    Thanks a ton.

Fairly certain that it's got gigabit Ethernet and Firewire 400. The 4965 is dual band and if you can utilize the N element of the device, the max speed will be 600 megabits, but the average throughput is obviously going to be slower.

No personal experience here, though, I just Googled the info.

EDIT: Neonkoala is right, only 100/10. Must be getting late...

The ethernet is only megabit, 100/10, NOT gigabit.

So you say it's 10/100/1000 Ethernet. Can I find out for sure, either on my computer or on the Dell website? Couldn't find it either place.

And firewire is 400? Is that 4 pin?

Cool that the wireless is dual band. Says it can take up to 3 antennas. Anyone know if Dell uses 3 antennas in the XPS 1530? If it's 300 Mbps as listed, maybe you could get half that (150 Mbps), but that's still faster than 10/100 Ethernet.

Good to know. Is there someplace on my computer where I can look it up? Or on Dell's website?

Yeh - FW is 4 pin.

If you ordered the draft-N card you should definitely have 3 antenna. If not then there are various reports of some having and some not having the 3 wifi antenna (although there are other antenna's, usually for the WWAN that you can play with)

    Ethernet - 10/100
    Firewire - 400
If you ordered 4965agn - 3 antennas standard
As regards speed it depends on your router, if you have a draft-n router then theoretically you should get up to 300MB/S, how much you actually get I don't know - it depends on a whole multitude of things - environment etc. 150-200 MB/s would probably be about right.

So, 4 pins for the Firewire 400. Is that documented on my computer someplace?

For the 3 antennas on my wireless card, guess you're saying there's no way to tell how many are actually hooked up in my laptop. Don't know what you mean by saying "play" with the WWAN antennas (wherever they are).

Lol - not really, just look at your port ;)

As for the wireless see yomamasfavourite's post.
As you ordered it with the 4965 card you will have 3 antenna's connected. If you didn't order a mobile broadband (WWAN) card then if you open it up you'll see a collection of unused antennae for it. I was just suggesting that if you didn't have 3 wifi antennae you could try one meant for the WWAN card.

Thanks for the Ethernet & Firewire specs. Is that documented on the computer someplace? I just bought a Draft-N router (D-Link DIR-825) so we'll see how it all works.

Looked at my Firewire port with a flashlight. Sure it tiny, but was able to see the 4 holes for 4 pins.

Since you say my WiFi will have 3 antennas attached, guess I won't need to hook up any WWAN antennas.

So now my router is simultaneous dual band & my WiFi card is dual band. Can I use both bands on the same computer simultaneously?
