I have never used a LAN connection till today and I started noticing static electricity problem on the aluminium cover. It will go away if I wear shoes. But its kinda annoying.

There is no problem if I connect the power supply. There is no static problem.

Only if I connect LAN even if on battery.

It's possible there is a small electrical current coming though the LAN cable - whether it's intentional, or not; or even a grounding fault in the laptop is speculation.

Have you tried plugging into other LAN connectors and seeing if it is still a problem?
And what LAN connection is it? (i.e. to a home network router, wall LAN connection)
