Hey everyone
I just ordered an xps 15 and can't wait to get it but all of the comments I've read makes me worried that I may receive a slightly defective unit due to Dells QA.
What are good stress tests to run to figure out if my laptop has dead pixels, coil whine, or any issues that would arise while gaming?

Hold D when powered off then tap power on and it will start screen diagnostics.
As for coil whine simply listen during NORMAL use as you do not use a benchmark during normal use.
As for the rest sit back for a few hours and read all the posts. -
Ok thanks and a few more general questions
1) do I need a screen protector (4k touch screen user) ?
2) does the aluminum lid scratch easily
3) are there any good quality capacitive styluses?
4) liquid metal or standard paste for the gpu/cpu? -
2, No
3, I tried a generic one and the area is quite large so you can't use this with a pen type and expect accuracy.
4, go for a non conductive for obvious reasons, liquid metal could invalidate your warranty even if it is not the cause or the problem.Vasudev likes this.
