My wife's Studio 1535 screen is no longer working. It started out being intermitten, in that depending on the position of the lid the screen would be normal or just crap out (there would be vertical lines with random colors and black on the edges)...but the LCD backlight is always on.

After starting the computer up the other day, the screen is now always displays the vertical colored lines...seemingly random. The computer works fine and I hooked up an external monitor and can use that completely fine so I don't think it's a video card or driver issue.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I don't want to drop 100 dollors on a replcement screen and find out it's the video card or the inverter or something cheap.

    Any input would be appreciated!

Unfortunately it's near impossible to rule out thing out or another without replacing with a known good part. Vertical colored lines usually indicates a defective LCD. You also could have a bad inverter, a bad LVDS cable, OR a bad motherboard connector.
