Hey, I have a new studio XPS 1640, and I've noticed I cant get it to charge past 90% charge. In the battery settings it says that there is like 3 hrs left to full charge. Please let me know if there is a fix for this, I've only used the system like 3 times and it is brand new. I have to most updated Bios as well. Thanks in advance!

Check if the Battery Care function is enabled.

My computer comes with a tool that can limit the battery charge in order to help make the battery last longer. Check if Dell included such a tool with your laptop.

I googled it and that is a feature for Sony Vaios only. Any other ideas anyone?! Thanks again...

No Dell has a battery meter/extender program also. I have it on my 1640. Not sure which of the Dell apps installs it but it is definately there.

I have NEVER had a laptop (and I have had many with Vista) that have given me this problem. I have a Studio 15 that never has had this issue. I don't understand why it is hanging @ 90% and not going any further?

Quickset. But it has nothing to do with the battery's charging performance, it only disables some computer features to extend the battery life.

Not sure either, but charging to 90% will prolong your battery's long term life more than if it were charged to 100%
