Hello.
I'm considering buying a studio xps 13, and have a few questions
for those who own one...
What is the screen resolution?(May seem like a stupid question, but searches have only told me its WXGA which is a fairly loose set of specifications)
Gaming, would this laptop be able to run current games fairly well?
(Fallout 3, Half Life 2 Episode 2, etc) (With 4gb> of RAM, the base CPU, and the 9400)
Graphics/Video Editing, would this laptop be able to handle general graphics
design and video editing?
With the two previous items, would it be worth upgrading to the dedicated GPU?
Are there any major problems with this laptop?
I've heard about heating concerns, are these a dealbreaker?
And, are you happy with your SXPS 13 in general?
Thanks,
Mel.

1280x800 to what I have seen.
Keep in mind that it gets quite hot with normal use and will be even hotter playing game. Cooler will be a must.
I just got 1340 myself and while playing (not editing) an HD file (.mts) for about 3 mins temp of CPU went from about 52C to 70C. The laptop was in my lap. -

My 9400M runs TF2 just fine, and I'm sure any half-life game would be fine too. There's a thread around here that has 1340 benchmarks for 9400M vs 9500M, should give you a good bit of information.
I'm sure with a little bit of time the 9500M will be optimized better for some games, but doesn't seem to be now. -
So, if i have the extra money, investing in the 9500 would be 'smart'?

I bought mine about 2 weeks ago from Best Buy. It replaced a Sony Vaio and so far I like it very much. It does get a little hot but not unbearable, although I don't play games on it. It has the 9400M. In general I like it, especially the lighted keyboard.

I'd expect it could run games fairly well. Most Valve games seem to benefit from Hybrid SLI. You can see varying games being played on YouTube. The 9400M G is pretty powerful considering it is still an integrated GPU. Adding the 9200M GS can't really hurt XD. Just note that when in performance mode, the 9200M GS can drain the battery rather fast if enabled.
