I upgraded my Studio XPS 13 to Windows 7 Pro RTM and Im using the latest NVidia drivers for my 9400M. Problem is that occasionally, going into or coming out standby does not work. Going into standby, the screen may blank out and there is constant hard drive activity, but the system never powers off. Or, coming out of standby, the screen is just blank. Most of the time it works, but randomly, it does not.

I have no idea what to do, so Im hoping you guys may have suggestions. There is nothing unusual that appears in my event viewer. Im stuck on ideas.

Instead of saying you have the latest drivers, tell us the driver version. (Which should be 186.81).

Also, try installing the Windows 7 chipset drivers from Nvidia (FYI, the Studio XPS's chipset is the nForce 730i)

Yup, the version I was using is 186.81. Ive downgraded to the version listed on Dell's support which is 179.82 and have not seem to have any issues yet. But it's only been a day, so fingers crossed...

Right now, most of my drivers are default what Windows 7 installed, so no nForce chipset driver installed. If I experience any more blank screen, ill go ahead and install that.

I have this happened on my HP desktop (blank screen coming out of standby), once reverted back to the OEM version, the display is fine again. I also experienced this 2x on a newly installed 7 Pro 64 RTM on my 1340, it also seems fine after I went back to the OEM driver. We shall see.

Still on the fence if I should keep 64 installed or install 32, for most of the apps I run, 32 will cause less headache for me.

You can try Dell's beta version available for the m17x (186.12). Those seemed more stable for me at least than the newest available from Nvidia.

just wanted to chime in that I just had this same issue and it was the chipset drivers not thee display drivers. Loaded the latest nforce 730i drivers from nvidia and it fixed everything, thanks! :D

hey this might be a little off topic, but what drivers are u using for wifi (if you have the atheros 1515 card). My card drops connections every 5 minutes, and I've tried the modded drivers but everytime i scan for new hardware win 7 automatically installs the old, and updating them to atheros doesn't work.
