Thread closed. Issues now in separate threads anyway.

    Excellent work, Nition !!

I'd like to add an issue fixed with the A03 bios update.

Since when out of the box, the XPS suffered a problem in the cold boot : after the POST, the boot sequence stucked with a blinking cursor in the top left part of the screen, and only an eventual "ctrl-alt-del" helped to load the OS.

I repeat, the A03 bios update fixed this.

    Ciao !!

    Andrea

    P.S:
Forgive me for my written english...

That's great news that it's fixed and working for you now! :D

This will be helpful for other's that may have a similar problem.

    Cin ;) :)

That's great, I wonder what the problem was. And why I didn't have it as well. I'm going to try my eSATA with an unformatted drive sometime today and see what happens.

Nition, take a look at the "horror thread" : some ( bad) news for the firewire as well...you can implement those info on this thread I guess...

    Ciao

Is that just connected to the same latency issue, or is there a separate problem with firewire? If there's latency in the system anyway, it probably won't matter what you're using it through.

I know on my desktop there's a latency problem in Vista, but not in XP. I'm running ProTools with an MBox, later an MBox 2. In Vista I got clicks as if there was a clocking problem, and in XP it's fine. The system you used your gear on previously, was that also running Vista?

I tried the external drive unformatted. Same freezing issue. I went to contact Dell tech support about it, but I'm not allowed to because they've forgotten to add the warranty to my service tag...

At least it's not something major. I'll sort it out when I've got some more time.
