    Hi!

I want to buy a new notebook and noticed that the Dell Studio XPS 13 has only a resolution up to 1280x800.
Sony (and other competitor) have on 13.x" resolution up to 1600x900.

1280x800 is a nono for me. Anyone knows if Dell plans higher resolution on theire 13,3" Notebooks?

    Thanks,
    Undying

    I don't know why.

    Studio 14 has 1600*900.

I agree. I would have vastly preferred if they at least offered an improved LED monitor resolution.

Well the Sony is 16:9 while the Dell is 16:10. They could feasibly go to something like 1440x900 though.

1280x800 is a pretty high resolution on a 13 inch screen.

I agree. 1280*800 is perfect readability for 12-13".

Some people prefer higher resolution though.

I often have to use a VM. And the min. resolution for this stuff is 1024*768. On 1280*800 u have not even enough space for the taskbar and so on.

My current Notebook have 1280x800 and this dosen't work well for me :-(

LCD panel makers do not produce higher resolution for 13.3” screen, so Dell cannot give higher resolution option.
    Hmm, low demand?

For Sony, they do not produce their own LCD panels but their screens are always exclusive (quality, size, resolution).

For example, we could not find any 16.4” size laptop other than FW.
FW LCD panels are produce by Sharp.

I am not sure what you mean but there are several 16.4" laptops available: HP HDX16, Dell XPS 16, Acer 6930 for example.

sorry, i'm not aware about that :(

Sony Vaio FW is 16.4 inch.
HP HDX16, Dell XPS 16, Acer 6930 are 16.0 inch.
    :)

recently Sony also annouced Vaio NW with 15.5 inch size laptop.
normally same class screen size are 15.6 or 16.0

Yep you're right. Interesting. I did not know Sony is the only 16.4" laptop.
