    Hi guys,

I have a 3 year old Dell Studio XPS 1340. Worked fine until a week ago when the power adapter suddenly stopped working. It no longer lights blue and does not charge. Bummer...

I then borrowed an older Dell adapter. It's a 65W Model no: PA-1650-05D2.
This one should work, but when I plug it in it doesn't seem to charge. Even after a couple of hours I still cannot turn on the laptop.

I hope it is just the adapter that died and not the laptop itself that is the problem. Then I guess I just need to get a new 90W adapter.

    Any suggestions?

Does the light on the adapter go out when you connect it? If that's the case you probably have a bad motherboard, not a bad adapter...

No on the "broken" adapter the light never even goes on (before it would light when connected to an outlet).
On the older "not broken" adapter the light is on all the time. Also when connected.

Plus I was able to get the laptop to start up briefly after remove and reinserting the battery. It died after 5-10 seconds, though. Probably because there was no more power on the battery.

So I really hope the laptop is fine and it is only an adapter issue.
