    Hello all,
Recently I purchased Studio XPS 13 and I am very happy of the performance of the PC. Everything is fine with my lappi other than this irritating wakeup/sleep issue. The issue is it won't wakeup once it is in sleep for sometime(say 10 mins)... I searched whole this forum and found out few people faced the same issue..but I didn't find any concrete solution there..Some geeks suggested to reinstall and install drivers..other guys suggested to upgrade to latest nvidia drivers...

I have followed all this suggestions but still my problem isn't resolved...If anyone knows the exact problem and resolution please please do tell me..
If it cannot be rectifiable then I will return this laptop to Dell...

    Experts/Geeks/Enthusiasts/All please help...

    -Thanks

What about your bios? is it the latest version (A07)? There's a possibility it could be the problem.

I've had this problem too. For me, it was caused by the video drivers - use the drivers from Dell and not the ones from Nvidia. The ones from Nvidia are fast, but not as stable.

I think the latest version of BIOS is A06 only and I updated my lappi to that only.

    Hi all,

    Thanks for the replies!

Can you please tell me this is not an hardware issue? If it's not then I would be more happy as I no need to return the laptop which is another pain.

I am planning to install ubuntu 9.01 and will check whether it has same problem or not? Before that does anyone installed ubuntu 9.01 successfully on this machine??

    -Thanks

Your system freezes when it goes into hibernate mode. Go into your advanced power settings and turn off the hibernate feature where ever you can. Our laptops are set to hibernate on default when you push the power button. So just set it to sleep or set it to turn off the machine.

You'll find that it won't freeze anymore. It's something about the proprietary drivers for the laptop's buttons that don't let it wake the machine out of hibernation. Dell tech support has told me they're working on a possible update for it.

They've been really helpful for me, so far...
