Purchased but not yet delivered laptop with a 4X Slot load drive. I wasted 35 minutes on the phone trying to find someone in customer service to tell me what kind of Blu-ray media the drive can record BD-R and/or BD-RE. Got transferred to four operators finally dropped. If it's just BD-RE that's a non starter with me. Does anyone know the manufacture/model number of the drive so I can get the specs? The info says :

313-8387 - 4X Slot Load Bluray (BDRW) Rewritable Drive (BD Read and and Write)

Hi, dalmeida. Did you search the forums? There has been a thread about this before. To save you the time: it's a Panasonic UJ-235A. It can record single or double-layer to any BD-R or BD-RE disc.

ikjadoon, I think it would be better to point out to the direct link, just like you made some days ago for me:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=420284

BTW, I'm able to easily find that thread only using Google Search Forums, not with the usual Search Forum or Search this Forum functions.
And that thread's Title, without any mentioning of Studio XPS 16 on it, doesn't help too ...

I think that some "Sticky threads" here, reporting FAQ on various XPS models, would be very welcomed in such a quite chaotic forum.
A sticky thread is present for M1530, not for 1640/1645 and 1730.

There is definitely something wrong with this board's search function. For example, if you do a search for the word 'laptop' for this forum only, the newest result is from 7/2.

It is messed up: you can't even use hyphens in the search, which can be annoying, especially after waiting 40 seconds just to search again. :(

Yeah, the title isn't great for keyword searching, but it accomplished its task.

    A sticky would be nice....

Thanks much. Yeah 40 seconds is long but browsing like I did for much longer than that and coming up and empty is worse.

And to the person who said Win7 is now available:

    Not on my Dell.com.
