I got my new Studio XPS today, and as the title says, the drive isn't working. I put a DVD in, it tries reading it for a while, then eventually ejects the disk. Tried with DVDs I know that work. I restarted the computer multiple times, reinstalled the drivers, and no dice. Any other ideas, or am I going to need find a technical expert or something?

the dvd drive i got with the first xps 16 was junk. didnt read and definitely could not write dvd's. It read them sometimes, but then ceased to exist afterwards.

They replaced my laptop, in order to get my old one for their investigation into the power throttling these laptops have under gpu + cpu stress. The new one works a lot better, as i can read and write dvd's, most of the time now. Working pretty good thus far, until last night it just nuked 2 blank dvd's in a row til it got it right.

thats 2 drives thus far, and seems like none are 100%

Really? I really don't want to have to service this thing already. Anything else I can try?
