    Hi all,

I've done some search but couldn't find the solution to the following problem: Each time I turn on my SXPS, the display brightness is at the max. I had to Fn+Down to lower it. Moreover, a single Fn+Down press seems to lower the brightness considerably (more than by one notch).

If I then reboot, the brightness remains okay (to the level I've adjusted it to) but if I shutdown and turn it back on, the display resets to max brightness.

One final strange thing: I could not find the brightness settings in Windows. Normally, it's accessible in the Power Options (on the left pane) or if you click on one of the power profiles. But on my installation, it seems to be missing!

Searching this forum, I found some owners of the SXPS 16 having the same problem. But I couldn't find a post with a definite solution.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks.

I don't have that setting either -- never seen it there. The Fn keys work ok for me -- the only time I've ever seen it behave weird is when the CPU is very busy in Power Saver mode.

I don't know what happens on reboot -- I rarely every shut down the computer and never took notice.

The reason that you're seeing so many increments in one go when you adjust it after reboot is because that 'one click' is reverting it to the previously set brightness. In your case, the previously set brightness is considerably less bright than full.

    Hope that makes sense.

And yes mine does the same and it is a little bit annoying. On another screen I don't think it would be so noticeable.

    Yes, this is true.
