I am considering the Studio XPS 16 with a 25% coupon. The catch is that the only screen offering is the "Edge-to-Edge FHD Widescreen 15.6 inch WLED LCD (1920x1080)". I know that the best option is the RGBLED, however, with this coupon I get the configuration I want within my budget and I can live with just a decent screen, which I believe this one would be.

    My questions are:
    1) What people think about this screen in general?
    2) Are the fonts looking too small in this one? and
    3) Just in case I occasionally would like to use it in a lower resolution, e.g., 1600x900 is that possible? if yes, does it scale down good?

My current laptop is a 1280x800 15.4 screen, which I got used to it and I am concerned that the new screen might turn out to be too small when I am working for long periods of time.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I have a 15.4 1920X1200 RGBLED screen and it's perfect with WINDOWS 7. I would save up and get the the RGBLED screen

Though the 16.0" RGBLED screen is larger, the 15.6" WLED should have better color accuracy and lower power consumption.

Well the RGBLED does not list 1600x900 as an available mode. So if you really want to run at 1600x900 you should make that your native resolution and conifigure your display accordingly.

    Thanks for the replies.

With the 25% coupon listed here http://www.techbargains.com/dellcoupons.cfm there is no other screen option.

Here is the system which costs $1,391.02 with VA tax, which is within my budget ($1400)

I would really like to have the above CPU, GPU, RAM, and service options. I can live with a smaller HDD, but the 500GB was the only option here. I can also skip the remote for the moment, but I would really like to have that.

Even if I try to configure the system with the smallest screen resolution, is going to be more expensive than the above, because there is no coupon (that I know of).

The above system is great for me, should I decide to go with the SXPS 16 (vs SXPS 13 which I am also considering). Again, the only concern for the 16 is if the screen resolution is an overkill.

One of the replies said that the RGBLED screen doesn't list 1600x900. However, does the WLED screen list any resolutions lower than the native 1920x1080 (without changing the ratio)?

    Again, thanks for the replies.
