I did a clean install of Windows 7 on my Studio XPS 16 and everything is working except I can't play DVDs.

I installed the latest firmware for the DVD and got sound but no video.

I have also installed the latest ATI drivers and chipset with no luck.

Device Manager shows the driver for the monitory is a generic pnp monitor and I cannot set the resolution of the monitor above 1024 x 768. So, I am assuming that my problem is either the monitor driver and/or the ATI driver.

Can anybody help with a resolution to this problem?

Did you install the Dell ATI drivers for Windows 7? Uninstall everything and reinstall and make sure this works before using mod drivers if you prefer that...

Neither Power DVD or WMP work.

Well I uninstalled the ATI drivers and disabled the monitor driver and then reinstalled the ATI drivers.

I can now play DVDs. Go figure.
