The 1645 has the i7 processor with quad cores and hyperthreading. Windows will show 8 processors if you look in task manager or device manager.

The 1640 has the core duo with 2 cores and no hyperthreading.

Or you can read the service tag on the bottom.

i think my laptop may be faulty. Ive had it since christmas and yesterday the dell logo came off of the front. Probably due to heat.

Also many programs stop responding repeatidly its so annoying.

Firefox seems to stop responding alot. So does Windows Messenger especially when i go on webcam. iTunes seems to crash after a while when its not used. Then it wont open untill you restart.

I really need an alternative to the sXps because im really not happy with it. It looks really nice and its great untill you touch it.

When it works it does work well i have to admit. But at the same time i have constant problems wth it.

So i am considering sending it back.
