I think being a highend gaming laptop SXPS 16 should have FM radio tunner built into it like Toshiba Qushimo.

XPS1640 is not a gaming machine

You hold on one moment sir!!I can play Minsweeper all day on it.

I really can't see the need for an fm receiver in a laptop.
I'm sure there's a few people out there who would desire one, but I also imagine that the amount is insignificant and wouldn't be worth Dell cutting money from their profits.
I'm sure most people who can afford a Studio XPS own some sort of mp3 player or dedicated radio. Even if you couldn't, there's thousands of internet radio stations, websites like last.fm or pandora, or a variety of other sites that will allow you to listen to music. -
Hey, FM recievers have been in existence since like to 1940s: I doubt they're very expensive.
It's kind of marketed towards multimedia with the RGBLED and Blu-ray: an HD radio would be kind of cool. Somewhat useless, true, but if it record off the radio? It would only make sense if they also included a built-in TV tuner.

I do not see the point of an FM tuner on a laptop either, even a tv card is almost obsolete nowdays since you can access most channels live online anyway.
But if you can't get access to the internet via wifi or 3g to listen to the online radio stations then why would you buy a laptop? Buy a portable radio it will be much cheaper and battery will last longer.
And this laptop is not a gaming one. It is an entertainment laptop which happens to have a very good mid-range graphics card. If you want a gaming laptop from Dell go for the Alienware range. -
I'm for an FM tuner in anything... iPhone, laptop...

just download pandora, way better than actual radio

paper_wastage Beat this 7x7x7 Cube

^^
Pandora doesn't have to be downloaded and, unless you pay, you get 40 hours maximum per month. I don't listen that much, but "radio" is free.
I mean, online radio (IMO) is quite a bit different than FM radio. No DJs, no local news, and no call-ins: all the fun is gone!

Exactly...Online FM radios are full boaring with a sequence of songs without local news, jokes, no interactive calls, traffic updates, etc .... And its also not feasible for everyone to have a internet connection every where he/she goes. TOSHIBA has a gr job by adding t5his option to their laptop which is definitely a "+" rather "-" which hardly costs anything.
Studio XPS 16 should ve FM radio tunner
