Hi, I saw some posts about batteries here and thought I might inquire about it for the sxps 1640.

I received my laptop July 2009, along with a new 9-cell battery.
so far, hwinfo32 has determined there is about 6% battery wear.

Is this normal for using this battery less than a yr? Thanks...

Seeing as Dell considers the average lifespan of a battery to be about one year, you're fine.

Depending how often you use it on battery power, that's about normal. Batteries won't last forever!
