That's what Dell is trying to tell me at least.

I ordered a spare 90W AC adapter for my wife's computer on Feb. 12th with the free shipping...estimated delivery date of the 22nd. Seems rather excessive to me...after all.....someone just has to grab the part and throw it in a box with a shipping label to me and out the door it goes. At least that's how it seems to me it should go anyway.

Got an email last week saying it was being delayed to the 25th now....ok not too big of a deal but still seems excessive for such a simple thing to do.

This morning I get another email stating it's delayed yet again til March 2nd and I need to contact them to prevent it from being automatically cancelled.

So I contacted them and the response is that they've been out of AC adapters for the 1640 this whole time but are getting some in within the next couple of days supposedly.

Does this at all make sense to anyone here? If they were out of AC adapters then how can they expect to sell any 1640's right now? The guy I talked to even went as far as saying they've been shipping out new computers without the AC adapters....at that point I laughed and had to point out to him that the AC adapter isn't something they can skip on shipping with a laptop. Then he admitted he was just guessing....lol

That's typical for Dell CS...they'll never give you a straight answer and often make stuff up out of thin air hoping the excuse will placate you for another week. Pretty absurd he'd say they're not shipping AC adapters with a new laptop. No company would ever be able to pull that off.
