At least in Windows XP it doesnt.
It works in the BIOS for example.

    Any ideas?

The Eject Button? If so I had the same problem.
If you are a bit technically savvy and are comofrtable with hardware just reseat the touch panel and it should work.
If not, like me, call Dell to ask a tech to reseat the touch panel instead of asking for a new one which will take longer.

I had that too, if you reformated the system after that it does not work. In order to make it work install the QuickSet driver and bam it works right after that.

So, the eject button can work in BIOS but in OS. I had this problem before (installed quickset) and asked Dell's supporters, they tell me to upgrade my DVD-ROM firmware. But, I thought I should reinstall OS, then slowly install drivers. Well, it works again.

If you mean taking the whole thing apart and putting it back together then the answer is yes.

But I believe it must be a software problem, since the button does work during BIOS access. It wont work in Windows though.

Uhm... I'm using Vista, so I have no idea about XP. But after reinstalling vista and all drivers, the button works again.
