Hi,
I have a Studio XPS 1640 and put a expansion slot SSD in the expansion/express port (the part that holdes the remotes and such). The problem is that I cannot remove the drive, the drive does not seem to spring out like in all the other computers I have used it in. Does anyone know if it is possible to get access to the inside of that bay by removing the back? I took the metal back off but it was not directly visible.. I didnt want to go blindly exploring.
Any other suggestions are also welcome!

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
sordive its held in by clips and screws and there are the cables for your keyboard 2 of them and one for your touchpad and one for the volume strip i think but just be careful not to break the clips
i removed the batt and the bottom acess panel and the vent cover as well as the other little one on the other side (you pull up and slide over to remove) then there are two screws you have to remove by the battery then slide something between the space on the edge of the laptop where the silver meets the side by the slotload drive and work your way around using a flat head popping up the clips i cant stress enough about being careful and then lift it up and remove all cables attached cant remember if there is anymore than the ones i mentioned but im not a hundred percent on this i did it a long time ago and have forgotten some of the steps to removing it subsequently but thats the general idea hope this helps -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
I'd try the tweezers first as well, but if it comes down to it, Dell has instructions on removing the palmrest: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/sxl16/en/sm/palmrest.htm#wp1038494
