Okay, so I am mixed on what to get right now. A Dell Studio 1737 OR the Dell Studio XPS 1640? The Studio 1737 has been out longer for any problems to be fixed and whatnot and comes at a lower price. The Studio XPS 1640 has been out for just a couple of months and there are dozens of reports of BSOD's, heating issues, etc...
I would like to get the Studio XPS 1640, but generally I wait about 4-6 months after the product has been released before buying. There are talks about a built-in TV Tuner, but I haven't seen that on the Dell website. People are also saying Dell is going to upgrade the video card....?
I guess what I want to know is if it is worth waiting at the moment for Dell to fix all the issues plauging the XPS and then buy it or go for the Studio 1737 for the time being?

I'd go with the Dell Studio XPS 1640, i have it with no upgrades at all and it runs really nice! And i have not had any probs except 1 BSOD when i first installed updates but i ran recovery and it has been fine ever since. And mine never runs "hot", maybe warm but never hot.

I'd like some more opinions, is it worth getting now or wait later? Do you think Dell will upgrade the video card in this machine? Does the heat vent cause the "glass" display to warp?
Anything else? -
Just so you know, the 1080p screen has over saturated colors. The reds and greens really pop out at you. Not to bad, but if that bothers you than stay clear.
Also, my subwoofer keeps fadin in and out. Most of the time it doesn't work and the speakers sound is really thin and small, like it's coming only from one side.
Other than those issues, I'm pleased with the purchase. Dell will probably release the ATI 4xxx pretty soon though. (hopefully within my 21 day return policy lol) -
if you have to choose between the two lines as of today, id pick the sxps, as i did. and a few months down the road id of course pick the more advanced sxps options, but there is no real reason except slightly bigger screen size to go with the studio 17. similarly configured to my own sxps the studio also costs more. -

The 1640 is faster, lighter, and portable with newer technology. The 1737 we got has an LED screen, backlit keyboard, same cpu and hard drive as the 1640, and only cost $860 from the outlet. The video card is the 3650 and it has Vista 32. But I had to haunt the outlet for 5 days to find it and haven't seen another. Or I would have bought it
They are both beautiful machines. You'll just have to decide which one is for you. But if you saw the 1640 in person you wouldn't be able to resist it. It is a really gorgeous machine. -
