Here is my problem, I've noticed at least twice now that for no reason while on BATTERY power the laptop's display will turn itself off and not come back on. This isn't a huge problem but still something that makes me worry.

The real problem is that while on battery power again the display will pulse the RED LED before going back to normal at startup (when the PC Posts)

Then while in windows (again this has only happend once) while transferring a file to a USB key or syncing to iTunes. The display will Pulse the RED LED until the file transfer is complete.

    Anyone have a similar experience?

I've had something similar happen to me. I was playing Bad Company 2 when the computer shut down and the hinge light was blinking orange.

What happened was I had accidentally pulled the power cable out and not noticed so I was playing on battery until it got down to 7% and shut down.

On reboot the notebook complained that it didn't recognise the battery. I chose the ignore option and continued to boot.

The hinge light was still flashing orange but after a while it went back to white.

    And all is well now.

Ok so my suggestion is to check your battery's health. I think that orange and in your case red flashing hinge light means there's something wrong with the battery.

Ya the problem isn't with the battery light indicator on the side LED's i'm talking about the RGBLED Display only showing RED briefly. like during initial power up or in a low battery state while not plugged into an AC adaptor. Also while doing a file transfer to a USB. The whole display flashes red. its happend again since I posted this.

    wait wait wait.

Do you mean the RED LED backlight, or the hinge light?

Also, I want to know how to get a red hinge light. I've seen a few people with it and it makes me jealous :(

    I'm talking about the Backlight.

Isn't the red hinge an error. Mine flashes orange when it has critical battery.

I had a similar issue and I think it was related/triggered by high humidity in my apartment when I steam cleaned. The screen kept acting funny and it looked like the red part of the LED was completely turned off because the entire screen had blue and green hue to it, colors were all messed up. I've also had the problem where the screen turns off and won't turn back on (or at least the back-lighting won't), the solution to that is to turn the system off, unplug the charger and pull the battery to reset the system. I think something similar works when the RGBLED screen gets screwed up too. Haven't had this problem in awhile and never needed repair.

This was my friends, he also got blue and often nothing at all, and everytime he would plug or unplug his charger the screen would go all the way down on brightness with a bit of a tint from some colour then brightness back up and back to normal. lol

This is my problem, I don't know what to do. Because the problem is really complex to reproduce.
