    Hi,

I've got my new studio xps 1645 since yesterday. Must say, it's a very nice laptop. But the thing is, my speakers don't work properly. I get a very strange, distorted noise when I listen to music, watch a video, etc .. When I plug in my headphones the sound is very good.

So I think this is a speaker problem. Are there any solutions for this?

    Thank you,
    Mathew

I have the same problem, received a refurbished 1645 last week and still looking for solutions.

For me, one of the headphone jacks sounds just as bad the speakers. The other headphone jack, while does sound better then the speakers, is still relatively terrible compared to when listening to headphones on my old m1530. Does anyone have experience on both the M1530 and Studio XPS and could comment on the quality of sound should be relative to each other. I have the IDT driver in the drivers thread installed with creative soundblaster. The sound is extremely muffled and distorted and becomes very noticeable at 40% sound but still very bad at lower levels.

Anyone know what the problem is? Could it be the speakers, subwoofer, soundcard, or just drivers? I'll probably call Dell soon, but want a general idea of what needs to be replaced (unless its a driver issue). I don't trust their technical support in figuring out the problem given past experiences.
