Hi I have a Studio XPS 1645, I would like to replace my slot loading DVD with a Blu-Ray drive. Any recommendations as to which model will be suitable?

    any available here will work.

also factor in if you only need it to read or write as well.

Also of note, I have a Matsh-ita ((lol, it keps coming up MATA as it was censoring me from saying s***)) (same owners of panasonic) UJ235A and although it is listed as a read only it is actually a write drive as well.

I ended up getting a Sony Optiarc BC-5640H which wasn't on the list. Just wanted to say it works well and is also compatible.

I'm also thinking about replacing my DVD drive in XPS 1645 for Blu-ray. I've checked these models from DELL website and I've found something like this:

Blu-Ray Combo BD-ROM HL CA10N Slot USB External Drive
Blu-Ray Combo BD-ROM HL CA10N Slot USB External Drive | eBay

Blu-Ray Combo SONY BC-5600S Slot USB External DVD Drive
Blu-Ray Combo SONY BC-5600S Slot USB External DVD Drive | eBay

Are these the same as internal drives and can be used without any problems? (my notebook is almost new so I would prefer to stick with original configuration for some time - external blu-ray drive would work for me)
