Since I bashed a hole in the casing of my Studio XPS 1645, Dell is sending me a replacement. The hard drive in the current notebook is the 128 Gig Solid State Drive. The thought of totally configuring a new machine from scratch again, leaves me annoyed.
Question...and, admittedly, probably a stupid one:
If the replacement machine has the same exact specs, could I just move the hard drive from old machine to the new machine, and it'll be like nothing changed? No need to reinstall programs, drivers, settings, etc?
Is this accurate or does this approach not work?
Thanks in advance.

yes, that should work with no issues

Is it easy for a novice to swap the drive?

plug and play kinda deal
turn it off and unscrew where ever the hard drive is and then put it in the new one.
I do not have the machine but i know it will work. I am sorry i could not be more helpful -
