    Guys, need your help...

I purchased this laptop from a friend and wanted to install a fresh copy of Windows 7. He does not have the Cd for the drivers, etc.

I have already installed Windows 7 and some of the drivers from the dell website but I am still missing the drivers for the webcam and the bluetooth.

I tried to install the bluetooth but keep on getting a message "activate bluetooth from wireless switch" prompt.

    Any assistance would be great!

Touch the wireless button (the one with the antenna logo) to turn it on?

Jreykdal is right. The wireless button controls both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth by default (turns them both on or off at the same time). Not all systems have Bluetooth, so are you sure you have it on yours? If you do, you could also try going into the BIOS and enabling it there. Also, the Bluetooth logo should light up next to the Wi-Fi icon on the front of the notebook when Bluetooth is on, so that is something else you can look for to make sure it is on when installing the drivers. I didn't have any problem installing Dell's Bluetooth drivers on my system, so the drivers should be good.

As for the webcam, there are no drivers for it. It uses the built-in drivers that come with Windows 7, so it should already be set up for you. It will work in any application that use webcams, such as IM programs. If you are looking for Dell Webcam Central, then you can get it here: http://smartsource.dell.com.

Thanks for the info, I did what you said, and also checked for the bluetooth on the BIOS and it is present and enabled.

However, when I install the drivers for the bluetooth, it gives me a message to activate it on the wireless switch, when I do this, nothing happens...

Just because it shows up in the BIOS doesn't necessarily mean you have it. My BIOS says Internal WWAN is enabled, but I don't even have this. One way to check is to look in Device Manager (open the start menu and type 'Device Manager'). Since you were unable to get it installed, it will probably show up under Other Devices with a question mark if you do have it. Any other hardware that has not been installed yet usually has a question mark as well.

Drivers are update so quickly (especially the video drivers) that this would be kinda pointless. There is another thread where all the updated drivers are linked to on the first post. Though it's for the 1645, all the drivers are identical, aside from the BIOS. http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...driver-softwae-updates-studio-xps-1645-a.html

I see, when I go to device manager, no question mark shows up. So does this mean I dont have bluetooth in my 1647?

If there's no Bluetooth device under network adapters, and there are no unidentified devices, they you don't have bluetooth. You could always just open up the laptop and look to see if there's a bluetooth card.

Thank you very much for the info sir.

One more question, how do I easily identify if I have the RGBLED LCD?

Go to device manager, then monitors, then 'generic PnP monitor'. In the properties window, go to the details tab, and select hardware id from the pull down menu. If it says LG***** or AUO***** then you have a WLED. If it says something about Samsung or SEC (I don't know what the exact model is), then you have the RGBLED.
