Hi I am new to this Forum and new to laptops I have just purchased this machine, DELL STUDIO XPS M1640 Core 2 Duo 2.93GHz ,500GB, 4GB I got it new on ebay. It arrived today and everything is fine except it won't eject CD's using the highlighted touch button. I have to go into computer and eject from there. The machine is running Vista Ultimate. I have contacted Dell and I have to transfer the machine to my name and extend the warranty before they can help. I thought I would ask here first. Any Ideas? :(

Had the same problem, had to do it like that also until one time when that didn't even work. Dell replaced the whole BD drive for me under warranty, no probs since.
Might not be the same issue but thats how I got it fixed.
    (Quickset was already installed)

I have the BD-ROM as well and am waiting for Dell to replace it. When I received the laptop I noticed that it would cycle several times when I powered on the machine. After 4 days of that it started continually cycling like it was trying to eject something but much louder than it had been. After about 45 minutes on the phone with Dell they are going to have someone replace it on site, they said it is not a consumer replaceable item.
