My motherboard died, had her 2 years, wanting to buy another one and can't find my specific board anywhere. I have a 1645 with an i7 and 4670. From what I've read the 1640 is completely different chipset. The 1647 is DUO only and won't support my cpu. The 1645's are all over the place it seems.

I found a 1647 on ebay and hot damn the picture looks identical to my board! all the chips, shape of the cpu slot, meanwhile hardly any 1645 images match my board accept this dude in the UK.

    Dell Studio XPS 1645 Motherboard - Y507R | eBay

my board is a y509r, which apparently are impossible to find, not y507r, what is the difference? I've been looking daily for a month now for my specific board, it's like i've got some alien version of a 1645 board. The number y509r brings up the 1647 like crazy in google which confused the out of me, even had to call dell to verify that what I had was actually a 1645! I'm so damn confused and I'm stuck without a computer, I just want to fix the damn thing.

Anyone know what versions of boards I can purchase? I don't care particularly on the gfx card, I just want to be sure my i7 will work.

oh and the funny thing is, all the other y507r I found, when I look at the bottom of the board, do not lookin like mine, the soldering around the cpu slot looks different.
