Hi all, as you know the Studio XPS series 1645 suffers from overheating originating from bad build of the screen that blocks the cooling vents behind the laptop. Has anyone tried changing the screen to another XPS or Dell model's and found that it solved some or all the overheating issues? Is it even possible to put some other model's, that's closely related, screen onto another?

Goin crazy with the overheating, stopping me from playing Starcraft 2 on even medium settings. I just can't take it anymore. Even considering buying another laptop and the worst part is that for all other purposes it's fine, just fails when it comes to games, and not just games, one game, the only game I play. All help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Nebu
    Studio XPS 1645.

The screen is just part of the problem. You can experiment with screen angles and benchmarks to verify that the screen blockage makes a difference, but nothing significant enough to say that it is the origin of overheating problems.

You should check out this guide, in particular numbers 3 and 10: http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-xps-studio-xps/500027-how-keep-your-sxps-cool.html

If you want to get more involved, you can do #4.
