    Hi guys,

Frankly speaking, when I purchased Studio XPS Laptop - 1640 (I am in India), I was very very happy at that time!

Till June 2009, I was using USB modem to connect to internet, But then I switched to LAN and Wifi and PC started getting locked. Also, My DVD burner doesnt work. Not only this, My Dell Touchpad doesnt work correctly at all! Even, Eject button doesnt work.

After talking to technician it is confirmed that there are many hardware problems! He said that someone will come to my house today and will replace motherboard, some panel thing and DVD burner and will check touchpad.

Till now no has come, I think may be tomorrow someone will come.

Also, they said that they can not replace my laptop and if problems occurs even after replacing parts they will not help me anymore.

    What guys do you say?

    Any advice?

Any tip to get it replaced?

    Thanks to all in advance

Then tell them to replace parts until it works, the laptop are built on parts, so they can exchange it until it works, then if the only thing you have left from your old one is the frame, so be it.

    Read your Dell warranty agreement/conditions/terms/information.

    Thanks :)

He said that he will be replacing:

    Motherboard
    DVD burner
and since touch button are not working, he will also be replacing touch panel internal part or something that kind of stuff

Yeah, I read that. I have 1 year XPS Premium complete cover in which they will replace parts or laptop if I have accidental damage.

Also, he said that I can only get parts replaced.

He said that if I reported these errors/difficulties within 30 days of purchase, then they might have replaced the laptop. But now its 135 days.

Actually, I didn't tried DVD burner and wifi and LAN till now, so I think I musht have tested all these hardware parts when I purchased this.

    Thanks guys

1 year complete cover pretty much means you will get a replacement laptop, if after part replacements thrice, the laptop still doesn't work satisfactorily..

At any rate, as BR said.. keep bugging dell until it works.. A working laptop is what you paid for, it is your right to get Dell to replace parts until you are satisfied that your laptop is fully functional..

    Thanks :)

I talked to them again, and explained them since the person will be coming to my house and opening the laptop and then replacing three parts, I dont think I will be able to get a brand new look.

He said that I dont need to worry, and replacing a laptop is not possible.

So, now, I am waiting for them to replace the parts and still, If I get problems I am going to contact them again :)

Dell technician said that since this is the first replacement of the parts, dont need to worry...

Then, I told him that my laptop touchpad gets damn heated after browsing sites for 15 to 20 minutes, he told me that if temperature exceeds normal one, OS will auto shut down and heating is a normal issue with XPS.

    Thanks
