    Hi guys,
I just got my sxps 1340 and am running vista sp2.

I have 4GB of ram, and task manager shows that 2.8GB is in use. The processes total up maybe 500MB, so whats using the other 2.3GB of ram?

I saw a post once that the video cards were using ram, is that possible? If so, how can that be scaled back?

It's probably vista's superfetch taking up the space. If you type "services.msc" in the start menu then you should get to the services menu. Once in you should be able to find the service called "superfetch", double click on it and disable it then see if that fixes the problem.

Tbh, superfetch doesn't eat up RAM per se, it has low priority, if anything else needs the ram then it gives it up so as not to use the page file

I agree although I still like the feeling that I have more headroom even if I can claim back whatever superfetch has taken, what I don't understand it how my mums computer idles at 1.17gig whereas mine can hit 1.8 quite easily. Then if I do something that eats up the ram and then quit I go down to 890mb. Is this superfetch related too?
