Before I buy this laptop I am wondering what is the palm rest made from? I did chat to dell and they said magnesium? It doesnt look like magnesium to me,it looks like plastic.
-
if its anything like the xps 1340, then yes the palm rest is plastic, with aluminum trim and magnesium support.
-
Thanks thats what I thought, Dell online chat never know what thier talking about it seems all they train to do is upsell, push sales (make commision), and asnswer questions like what is faster a 2.0ghz cpu witrh 3mb's of cache or a 2.4ghz with 3mb's of cache.
-
Of course, a 2.0ghz is going to be slower than a 2.4ghz, especially if they have the same cache and bus speed..
-
What i was getting at is that the Dell live chat know pretty much nothing and only can answer simple questions like that.
-
Tell them you won't buy unless they know what the average wing speed of an unladen swallow is.
And yes, it is a very high gloss finger-print attracting plastic, which was one of the reasons why I was hesitant with my purchase. I preferred the all-aluminum of the m1330. However, it's not as bad as you would think... and it feels pretty nice too.
