Which one is better? I know the sxps 16 is better in terms of video & larger/better screen (e.g., performance & rgb led). But, the sxps 13 is cheaper and better in weight (much lighter than the 16) and could be still perfect for anyone doing school works and even video editing and games. This discussion would help prospective dell purchasers including myself to choose the right one in future.

You said it -- whatever your requirements are. For somebody looking for mobility, the 13 is better. For somebody looking for a desktop replacement, the 16 is better.

I do notice that many prefer the 16 over the 13. As to portability, it would be bit difficult for me to carry around almost 7 pound bulky notebook. I understand that some would not mind carrying that heavy pc. Performance seems to be more important than the size when it comes to choosing the notebook, especially this new notebook.

Studio XPS 16 is better... -
I agree it depends on what you need the computer for.

For me: The 1340 = Great portability, etc.
For me: The 1640, still portability ~ but more for home base use.
They are both great lappy's..it just boils down to personal choice/needs out of a lappy. I would prob's purchase the 1340, as my next lappy..would be that size. The 1640 is more similar to my XPS 1530 (well, to me)

Just get the 1640. 1340 is much more expensive if you get WLED screen + 9500GE + 5100 wireless card, and even then its big brother still out performs it.
Plus, every time you use your 1340, you would think about for how much less you could've gotten something that is more powerful, that you would've had a whole new range of PC games available for you. Even though you may never play them, it feels great to just know that you CAN play them if you ever wanted to. That you would've gotten speakers though crappy, has a subwoofer; and that you would've had one more USB port, and that bigger base is better for cooling, that bigger screen estate, and that you would've had the audio jacks are on the side instead of in front which is inconvenient if you wanna hook it up to speakers.....
