    Hey everyone

    I am currently considering buyin a Dell xps l502x for crimbo with the following spec:

    2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM processor 3.1
    8GB RAM
    750GB hard drive
    720p screen
    2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M Graphics Card

    I have been reading alot about this fan on/off issue on this forum.
    I was just wondering whether I sud put me off buyin an l502x?
    Also what percentage of dell l502x have this issue cos dont really wont to be sending all my time on phone to dell?
    Also with this issue does it effect the life span of the laptop?
    I also heard cool mat solve problem anyone tried it?

    I don't have a fan issue.. there's one time though the fan is running faster than it should be (once when it's idle it runs really noisy) but I have been having this laptop for nearly 6 months and that's only it.

    The fan does run a bit noisier when playing games or doing something heavy but it's not much and for me it does not interfere with the sound of the game.

    My suggestion is get the 1080p screen cause it's gorgeous
