hello everyone
finally i made ma mind to return ma xps m1530, with the shipping cost which is to be paid by me,as for return policy here in india is considered.
now i have no pc at home, so now im looking for a new laptop, as for india is concerned theres not much laptop range available n custom made is configuration is not available just like dell.
can anyone suggest me what alternative i can go for, coz i live in india,?
i d like a medium segment, gaming laptop, which can run almost all games, with good battery backup for mobility, with 3-4gb ram. n a processor with 800 mhz fsb with 3 mb l2 cache, as for gpu is concerned, which gpu i can go in for?
so for now as g84/86 are defective i guess i need to wait for long time here in india for new models to arrive,![]()
suggest me a good laptop ? shall i go for desktop? im confused right now.
tho i lost the shipping charges as per return policy, i felt its better that i returned n got ma money back.

That's not a good thing to hear...But, at least now you are on your way to finding the *right fit* for you in your next Notebook or perhaps desktop
We can help you in this area of the forum..but it's more catered toward's Dells..if you are still interested in another Dell
But, the best bet would be for you to go here:
What Notebook Should I Buy (section of the forum) here is the linky:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16
And, fill out the *faq sheet* of your needs and post itThere, you will be sure to receive suggestions and help on a notebook that is catered to your needs
If, you want a desktop go here:
Desktop Review.com
http://forum.desktopreview.com/
Same thing, they have a What Desktop Should I Buy...section
Another good site and they are always helpful there, as here on NBR

You will have to wait for the Dell Montevina laptops or consider a desktop. It really depends what will fill your needs; whether you need mobility or gaming power.

Well, Taruian...
I would still stick with the idea of getting a laptop, purely for the mobility factor.. And also, I really am sorry for your experiences. But AFAIK, Dell Support is pretty good out there and they do fix things (though this over heating was clearly unacceptable). So one option was you could have gone for a replacement. But since Dell there did not seem to be really inclined to do that (looking from the info you have posted around here), and since you did not want them to come and see if they can fix but by that time if you run out of the return period etc etc., yeah, probably what you did was right.
Anyways, I suggest you check out HP / Sony. I can suggest something later, coz I am in a hurry now, but browse through the models available there. Also, I am sure the experts would soon jump in here with model suggestions.
The reason I am suggesting HP / Sony is because, apart from the suggestions you might get here, being in India, I think you should give a serious consideration to the customer service factor as well. I am NOT saying customer service in India is bad.. but as with everything else, there are always the better guys and the really terrible-to-deal-with guys!
So take a look at HP / Sony in *their* respective threads / forums.. because here the place is more inclined towards Dell and its related queries...
The last I heard news from back in India was that Dell, HP and Sony were pretty good in dealing with customers.. So one is out now, and I don't know if you would deal with them again for now. There were a couple of suggestions from HP going around here.. Forgot the details. Will try to find it and get back... Good luck till then. and don't hurry upTake your time and go through everything with the laptop, including the deals / offers / rules / regulations of the vendor
In the end, you are the one who is best placed to make the best choice for yourself
