With regards to the Country issue - it pulls up the list of available countries via Ajax, 'cos the database is getting large. As such you sometimes have to wait for the drop down menus to be populated.
Still no idea about teh calendar. I'll try reuploading the files in full.

So i've added two new features to the system tracker.
The first is 'bug tracker'. The idea behind this is that if and when people notice an issue with their system such as bad build quality, CPU whine, res changing after lid opens (etc.), they enter the bug into the system along with a definitive solution.
There are numerous long threads popping up over the place which makes it hard to track down the actual solution (if there is one) to a problem. Keeping them all in one place will mean it is simple and easy to find the solution.
The two new links related to this on the menu are:
My Bug(s) - Bugs you have personally submitted.
Bug Tracker - All bugs submitted by everyone.
The second new option I have added is a Review Tracker. Since people have started to receive their XPS M1330's, people have started to write some very good custom reviews which are not getting the lime-light they deserve. The idea behind the review tracker is to keep links to or copies of reviews on one place filed clearly by system and author. You can either add a link to a review via the URL option, or you can repliacte your review by submitting it into the description. I have even allowed pictures to be uploaded - so free image hosting for reviews as well. Please make sure that if you are going to submit a review in its entirity and you did not write it, that you have the permision of the original author.
I'm going to start populating the Bug Tracker and Review Tracker but I would also like the help of all you guys to keep it up to date - as everyone has done so well with the System Tracker.
Cheers,

My laptop won't go to sleep! I've tried both Dell's Nvidia drivers, and the 165.01 version on http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ . I've posted about this in the forums already, but haven't gotten any feedback yet.
Anybody else figure out how to solve this problem. My machine hasn't been able to sleep since I received it -
I suppose here's a different one. Machine arrived on 4th.
Panel above keys that have 'XPS' written on it doesn't sit flat.. Dell has arranged a tech to come and replace this/fix it. Since this, I've used the machine on battery for the first time.
Was done last night, so plugged it in to recharge overnight.. and woah.. the most insane high pitched squeal started coming from the machine near where the AC adapter plugs in. Turn the laptop on and its gone.. turn it off and it comes back within about 10 seconds. It's easily heard over the noise of my TV from across the room.
Anyone else noticed anything similar? -
Sound on the main speaker hasn't come back on after plugging in and unplugging headphones.
-
just got my replacement.. the new one has a ****tier - aka yellowish, less brighter, grainy screen, the screen itself has uneven hinges..it doesnt wobble and dell ofcourse ran outa white lids so they sent me a black..****in sucks
yeah this is going BACK -
I upgraded to the new nvidia geforce 8400 drivers from the dell link. However, sometimes the display resolution changes to 1024*768 after awakening from sleep mode.

How is the nvidia driver update useful if the resolution problem after sleep does not get fixed?
-
See my last tweak from the article below...It has been resolved...apparently.

I'm enjoying my m1330 but do have a couple of issues that I wish I could figure out.
1. That damn CPU whine comes and goes and when it's audible it's annoying. I tried the fixes mentioned such as the bluetooth and USB power suggestions but it has not stopped the noise. Seems to be horrible when not plugged into the power supply but silent when plugged in.
2. When I first open the laptop and start using the programs like Outlook 2007 and Firefox etc. The laptop will freeze for about 1-minute. This typically happens in the first few minutes when I open the laptop from a restart or standby.
The strange thing is I open the task manager to watch the 2-CPU and RAM usage but they show zero or low usage so it's not like some other program is hogging the laptop. I thought it might be the MCaffe Beta that I'm using but I don't think it is this.
Any ideas?
BTW I tried most of the tweaks and am happy about how this laptop is running all except for these two items and of course the remaining 3GB of space on my SSD lol
Thanx -

It depends on what he has for ram...With 4Gb, the system will rarely ever even use 1Gb. I have mine alotted for 600-1200mb.
The freezing issue...hmmm. Not a clue. Could it have something to do with your network at all? Is it connecting or looking for a network? -
I just spent a few hours with Dell tech support and have some detailed updates to add. I got lucky on my third CS rep and ended up with a 12yr DELL CS rep veteran who knew his stuff and took the time to trouble shoot logically.
RE: CPU WHINE
They told me that the whine is coming from the ceramic capacitors which vibrate at a certain frequency to cause the noise. They also stated that this noise was within tolerance and therefore not a problem, however, they are working on it to improve the product.
It is not happening with all system configurations but is pronounced with more powerful system configurations. I personally have the upgraded graphics card and the 2.0Ghz CPUs with 4MB L2 Cache.
RE: SLEEP MODE
Tech support states the issue is with Vista because the OS is allowing the CPU to run in C3 or low power mode which will not allow you to get out of sleep mode. The fix is to make sure all Vista controls are set to not allow it to go into this mode by unchecking the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" box, within the Power Management of devices found in the 'Device Manager' Such as the Bluetooth device etc.
Though this did seem to quiet down the whine it does not solve the inherant capacitor issue or the SLEEP issue for me.
Upon further inspection we found that the system did come out of sleep mode but the screen did not turn on or remained blank. This was due to the NVIDIA Driver update I got from the NVIDIA website, using forum links. Dell Tech support said that I neede to stick with Dell drivers to ensure compaitbility with my m1330 system. We removed the drivers and re-installed the correct video driver frm the Dell website and this did correct my 'SLEEP ISSUE'.
We did a bit more inspection of my system and enabled a few start-up services which I turned off and and disabled a few other items which I didn't need. My system is running better now. The final issue is that my system seems to hang for about 1-minute during times when it doesn't seem like it should and this might be my McAfee Total Protection (beta) for business so I am currently in contact with them to figure out more. -
I am having new issue with my m1330. Tried find anyone having the same problem but it seems there's no one with this problem:
The laptop slows down to a crawl when plugging until unplugging
Sometimes (happens randomly about a couple of times a month) when plugging my laptop to charge, the laptop slows down to a crawl and if i unplug it then it goes back to normal and repeat the process over and over. However, if i turn off the laptop completely and turn it on then the problem disappears (simply restarting doesn't help).
I am not sure this is a problem with Vista or M1330. Wondering if anyone's having the same problem and knows how to solve it.
My laptops specs:
Core2duo T7500 2.2 Ghz
2gig ram
Geforce 8400m GS
160gb 5400
9 cell battery
Vista Home premium
Thanks
Update: I did some experiments and found out if i do plugging and unplugging more often (like 3-4 times in 10 sec) then it stat having the problem again. and I need to turn my laptop off and on again. -
If it does, you're experiencing a problem that should be fixed in Vista SP1. -
