    Hi all.
Is this likely to work? XPS 15 9560 palmrest inc fingerprint sensor onto a 9550 chassis?

I've been holding off purchasing a refurb unit, hoping to find out if swapping to a palmrest with fingerprint sensor at a later date is going to be a possibility.

Basically I'm happy to do without Kaby Lake and the GTX1050 as long as I can add the sensor later.
Failing that, adding a fingerprint sensor to a non-fingerprint 9560 may be an option, as it at least has the fingerprint cutout.

I haven't had any luck searching for the 9560 sensor parts, but for older models it's easy enough to purchase matching parts for instance this palmrest and sensor for a Latitude e7440 - https://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=16562

You might be better off by just purchasing the XPS with the fingerprint scanner as it's only a small fraction more in cost in comparison to the ones that don't come with one. By the look of it if you wished to add the fingerprint sensor to a non fingerprint sensor configuration, you would most likely need to purchase a whole new palm rest altogether besides the fingerprint parts itself.

In my opinion, it's way more trouble than what it's worth.

    Liam.

No as you have nowhere to connect the sensor on the 9550 board.
