My friend is replacing his Radeon 6990m for a better GPU in his alienware and i was wondering if it is possible to replace the Nvidia GT540m with the Radeon 6990m. I wasn't sure if the mounts would be large enough or the power supply able to handle the card. If anyone could give me info on this i would be very appreciative. :)

No. The GPU in the 502 is soldered to the motherboard. Not to mention that I believe the Alienwares/Sagers use a MXM connector for the GPUs, one I believe that the XPS line does not support.

    That is true.
The Alienware M17x line uses MXM connectors for graphics cards while the GPU in the XPS L502x is soldered on the motherboard.

Even so, a sweet, sweet upgrade to the GPU if it were possible on the L502!

eBay it - I'm sure there's somebody out there who could use it. You'll get a few bucks for your *hard earned work*, and somebody out there gets a cheaper-than-retail upgrade
