I can see how that would lead to some confusion.

The screen is (was) manufactured by AU Optronics. Laptop vendors such as HP and Lenovo used this AUO display in some of their products. Windows 7 seems to automatically select and prefer to download the Lenovo display driver for this screen, but you could also stick with a generic display driver or use the HP driver instead. You could also possibly force use of the Dell display driver (the V7 one.)

Chances are, none of these options provide much additional functionality other than the badge that appears in the Device Manager / AIDA64 / etc. It's just a display driver.

they have some in stock here

    [URL REMOVED]

    A+ $129 + ~$20 shipping for me.

Since the glossy FHD was a $150 upgrade, I opted for the lower rez screen to save a little on tax and since I wouldn't really make anything by selling it.

ribbon cable part is V73D3 not 0V73D3. It cost me $20 shipped.

    Assembly,Cable,Low Voltage Differential Signaling,Full High Definition,Light Emitting Diode,NIMOY

I recommending talking to this guy, since he'll know what to get you. It took us 30 min to find the part

Still waiting on laptop, screen, and cable, so I can't comment on how the switch has gone.

edit: That screen is actually LG phillips LP156WF1 :( Don't buy it!

Yeah I understand that, but my screen has the Lenovo monitor ID and the IBM part # sticker on the back.. just found that odd. :)

I suspect you might not receive the B156HW01 V4 screen from this vendor. I have personally contacted them myself asking for this exact model and they told me they only have compatible screens in stock.

You might not be bothered about this but if you are, you should perhaps submit a support ticket with them to find out exactly what you will be receiving.

    Just a thought. :D

thanks for the info, it has shipped already though. I'll make note of the screen model when it arrives. This will be a major disappointment if you are right.

if you scroll down a little from where you add one to your cart it says:

if you are right, this smells like false advertising.

edit: You are right. I am so bummed now, will probably cancel my XPS order and refuse the screen shipment

I saw that, but they don't specify matte or glossy. I assume its glossy if they don't take the time to say. I just spent 30 min looking for this panel, I can't find one anywhere

If it's truly a V.4, it is matte. There is no such thing as a glossy V.4 (the glossy version is what Dell uses, the V.7).

That's what I thought, but I kept getting search results for v.4 "glossy"

Anyways I found a site, I hope its reputable. Came out to a little over $150 with up to 15 days shipping time.

I would contact them and ask if they are supplying the exact part listed or a "compatible" model, and cancel immediately if it's anything other than the exact part. Good luck, you won't be disappointed if you get a real V.4!

I just wish I could find stock of some V4's so I could sort you out...

....they are REALLY hard to get hold of.

I have found the B156HW02 V1 for sale which is brand new, 1920x1080, but doesn't offer the colour gamut of the V4.

If anybody wants to see the manufacturers spec for the B156HW02 V1, please email me: [email protected].

Also, if people are happy with this new model instead of the discontinued V4, get in touch and I will order you some in.

    Cheers
    Lee

I went to your webpage hoping you had some in stock yesterday. They are really hard to find! The page I found that might have them I found on Bing instead of Google.

His email receipts say do not reply and there is a script bug on his website that prevents me from contacting him.

Sounds fishy eh? I'm just hoping he's low budget and a hole in the wall that has a stack of v4's on a dusty shelf :p I can always dispute charges if its a replacement and not genuine.

you do a lot of good in these forums Barlow, I tried to give you rep but it seems you are stuck at one. Thanks for making me aware laptopscreen.com was mailing out compatible screens.

Thank you mate!!! Yes, for some reason I cannot get off '1' rep point....does anybody know why this is? (Or am I being sabotaged by another forum member, ha ha!).

I actually have 1x B156HW01 V4 panel, but it has been confirmed as having 2x stuck pixels. Grrr!!!!

I know people want perfect screens but if anyone can't afford it and wants one for cost price (knock £20 off the sale price in the store), get in touch and you can have this one. Just a thought.

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Hi :)

I'm from germany and have some questions.

In germany dell sells the l502x (and default configuration) only with a 720p display. That's why I need (like the l501x people) some new FHD cable?

Does somebody know an online shop which has the FHD Cable (if i need it) and a B156HW01 V4 in stock? Witch provides 100% no pixel faults?
Because it's bad when I order in US and then get some display with stuck pixels :/

    We sell the cables.

We are out of stock of the screens at the moment but the cable is probably more important as a FHD screen is useless without it. :)

email me if you want more information: [email protected]

It looks expensive but this is actually almost half the price Dell charge. :D

Dell UK ask £70 (79.5 Euro) for this cable so we are actually cheap!!!

    Good luck however!!! :)

I suspect these cables are either:

    1) Bought in bulk from Dell US
    2) pulled from faulty machines.

I can tell you now, I have some on order from Scott (Realtek) which he has kindly sourced for me off Dell US, and with all other costs considered, I could not sell them this cheap.

Also, I have had previous batches manufactured directly from the factory (Wanshih) that Dell get these from and even direct from Taiwan, I couldn't sell them for £18.99 !!!!

So I would advise people snap them up now...because that price is just awesome!! (Coming from me at the expense of my own business!!!). ;)

I've had to lower my price but I'm not making anything on them now when I build everything else on top of my costs (it costs £££ to operate a site with the traffic that we are currently getting!!!). :(

Okay, I have had my moan....the good news is my friends at ALIE Taiwan have found me some V4's so I've ordered them in. They are grade A+ too (Flawless). :)

I am 99.99999% sure you will not receive a B156HW01 V4 screen from this seller. It will probably be a compatible screen. You should check before you buy (just a word of advice from experience with these people).

    Best wishes
    Lee

EDIT: Although, as I have mentioned before, the cable is a BARGAIN!!!!! :)

These guys usually send a V0....I've checked them out before....(I keep my eyes on all these sellers....I don't trust any of them).

Despite what they say....you should double-check again before you buy and tell them you definitely want the V4 and not a V0/V5/V7 etc.

    Just trying to help :)

Of course thank you. I've said that I contacted many other sellers which sell v5 / v1 / v0 usw... instead of a v4.

    I contacted this ebay seller, he says they're selling V4 but they 100% don't fit in a XPS l502x - lol ?
So this seller is strange too :)

    So.. barlow00
    -> B156HW01 V4 (Grade A+) + FHD Cable Bundle - Kuzotronic.com <- this price would be okay :)

Get some of them :) I'd buy at your store :) But you are out of stock, out of stock and... out of stock :(

    Hi,

I had 4 screens this morning and they all sold within 45 minutes!! (I had a list of people who had made past enquiries and I emailed them to let them know). I have never sold so quickly!!!! :D

Sorry....I do keep trying but the suppliers in China/Taiwan play the same games as retailers (i.e send you compatible screens and not the ones you ask for!). I have to be very careful or I end up with stock that I cannot sell.

I will post a message on here if I get any more.

    Have a nice day

    Damn, Lee!

I want one of these screens!! How could they discontinue something with such high demand?

As for my link I posted above at NBKIT, I got a reply. I'll keep you posted, maybe this guy can find you a bunch if he is true to his word. It might be a few weeks before I can confirm it though.

edit: NBKit is shipping LG replacement screens now, avoid them like the plague

    Hi Damian,

if you go to the store now, we have 2 (Grade A+) available for pre-order (1 as part of the bundle with the required FHD cable, and one just the screen on its own). Should be with us in the next 3-4 weeks. (I predict much sooner but the Eastern suppliers are always generous with the delivery dates).

    Thanks
    Lee

PS. I also have 1x Grade A V4 screen that I can ship immediately and is available for £100 + Delivery. This has been confirmed as having 2x stuck pixels but I'm sure somebody can fix this themselves using tools online. This is a bargain for this screen and I am offering it out to anybody who doesn't wish to pay for the Grade A+ screen.

I think I got ripped off at that NBKIT site, the panel says v.4 on the back, but its glossy. They don't ship with a glossy film on them do they? I'm pryed a little on it, but am afraid to really see if it comes off, because I have a feeling it won't.

edit: it was a v.4 but glossy, now they ship LG replacements. Don't do business with them

been chatting with the rep at NBKIT, I have to say their customer support is top notch. He says exchanges/returns are no problem and he is really sorry about the mix up. He's having me send some pictures of the back of my panel so they can get the right screen out to me

This guy is the nicest CS person I have dealt with. Its possible its a one man operation. Time from order to time shipped takes about a week though. I'm guessing he has connects and works as a middleman.

I am becoming a pro at stripping down my XPS 15. This is my computer, this is my rifle. Stick a blindfold on me!

edit: NBKit is selling LG replacements instead of v.4 now. Poor business ethics.

Just wanted to say that the screen NBKit sold me is glossy. I've been talking with them, and they wanted me to take it to a place to have the polarizing film removed. Well if you do that, you can't see anything from the LCD. Besides, there's hardly anyone that does stuff like that in the US and the one place where I live doesn't deal with consumers directly.

All I asked was to be refunded the cost of shipping both ways and I would keep it. Or I said send me a label for return shipping. They didn't want to do either, so I doubt I will get me shipping reimbursed (~$50) so I am keeping it. Beware their advertising of matte v.4's, they may find a way to make the glossy a matte by removing the polarizing film and reapplying a matte one. I think they just will remove the film and try to sell it though lol. They said they had 6 people want to know more about the panels, probably from my post. He was saying he could get $220 for my screen too. Buyer beware!

By the way, it is a v.4, but it is also glossy. So they do exist.

here is what Aida says about mine:

    Monitor Properties

    Monitor Name Lenovo B156HW01 V4
    Monitor ID LEN40B2
    Manufacturer B156HW01 V4
    Monitor Type 15.6" LCD
    Manufacture Date Week 1 / 2009
    Serial Number None
Max. Visible Display Size 34 cm x 19 cm (15.3")
    Picture Aspect Ratio 16:9
    Maximum Resolution 1920 x 1080
    Gamma 2.20
DPMS Mode Support Standby, Suspend, Active-Off

edit: NBkit is now selling LG panels instead of v.4's. I'm editing all posts I made referring to them so no one gets duped.

Thanks for letting everyone know about this!!! Yet another example of sellers cruelly defrauding customers.

Word of warning people. Don't always go for the cheapest option or eBay....if a price is too good to be true, it usually is!!! I know the screens we sell are not the cheapest, but you always get exactly what you pay for.

    Have a great weekend. :D

Just to say a huge thanks to Lee for supplying me with one of these lovely displays, it has made a world of difference compared to the OEM 720. I thought I would be fine with the 720 but the poor viewing angles, colour reproduction and screen glare started to annoy. All sorted with my new AU Optronics B156HW01 V.4, cheers Amigo!

Is there a HD+ (1600x900) matte screen replacement for the OEM 720p display ? I don't want the FHD for various reasons. HD+ matte would be ideal for me but no idea where to find it.

I've just successfully replaced my OEM 1366x768 display with HD+ mate (1600x900). The new display is LP156WD1-TLD5. Also you need the V73D3 cable to get this replacement successfull.

The TLD5 specs report a 300:1 contrast. Are you happy with that?
Most of the other versions of LP156WD1 show better specs, like TPB1 or TLB1. Why have you choose this one?

The main reason was: I did not find any successful reports about replacement with exactly 1600x900 screen. In that case I ordered compatible 1600x900 screen at laptopscreen.com and got this one(TLD5), so I've ordered without screen number, just specified only laptop model and required resolution. Maybe TPB1 and TLB1 are compatible too, but I cannot confirm this. Maybe you can?\

Any way, my current 1600x900 screen is much better than my old one(OEM 1366x768). So yes, I'm happy!

    Hi

I'd like to swap my glossy HD screen on my L502X to a FHD (matte if possible) screen.
But it's seems to be hard to find a screen and a cable to a good price.
If you know a good place to buy it, tell me!

    thanks!
