Those of you that have had your system replaced under warranty, how long did it take to get the replacement PC?

My replacement request was approved Dec. 30 and my system still hasn't shipped. Another 30min call to tech support and apparently it is assembled and just sitting in a warehouse somewhere, ready to ship but not shipped as they claimed was the case when I called about it last week. I am getting really fed up dealing with my defective m1330 that freezes every 2 seconds because it is so hot while waiting for this stupid replacement. Am I being unreasonable? How long is this supposed to take? I just need a working computer!

What unit were you getting? I heard the new XPS line was having some production issues/delays.

Never mind. It finally shipped this morning. I should get it on Monday (they are shipping it next day delivery). It took 3 weeks and 5 days. Not thrilled with the service; but whatever. It is coming now. This new model had better work better.

Just make sure you test complete system stability when you get it. Nothing like using it after the return period and find out you got a lemon.

I don't have a return period because I'm not buying this computer; it is a replacement for my awful m1330. I have the best possible warranty with complete care for another year and 9 months or so. So if it is defective, I'll just spend more hours on the phone with tech support and I will really get upset.

What are the odds of 2 lemons? Although I guess like all the m1330s have problems.

You should if it is a replacement computer. And given the XPS line track record I wouldn't at all be surprised.

Not all the XPS M1330 were defective, just the alot of the ones that housed the defective G84M/G86M Nvidia chips. There were M1330s with Intel GMA 3100 graphics that were perfectly fine (rare).

I've gotten 3 in a row, first a Studio 1557 with constant overheating and BSOD, replaced with a Studio 1558 which smoke started pouring out of one day after 6 months, and now a XPS 15 with constant and random shutdowns with a black screen and constant audio stuttering. I hope you are not as unlucky as I am.

I would definately test everything to the limits before you put all your programs, data etc on it, to make sure it's stable as soon as you get it.
