I ordered my first dell, and first laptop (always have been a desktop guy, but now i need a laptop for college). Anyways I got a M1530 with a 8600M GT, 3gigs of ram, and a T8100, upgraded it from a T5850 for $75 which i was iffy about because I am tight on money. Now I see a lot of people with T8300, did i make a mistake with not going in even more for the T8300? I will be using this laptop for mid gaming and schooling. I shouldn't lose any fps in games should I? Will i even notice my computer being slower on daily computer use? Thanks

No dude I'd say you made the right choice. I have also been a desktop guy and needed a laptop for college so I've been researching laptops for a while. The performance difference between the T5850 and T8100 is noticeable but between the T8100 and T8300 very, very minimal. I ordered a M1530 yesterday and got the T8100 as well with the 8600m GT, 4 GB of ram. Nice choice :D

Don't feel bad ... they wouldn't offer it as an option if nobody bought it ... you are not alone.

Id have to say your more of a winner. The t8300 is the best bang for buck.

If you're just doing daily tasks with very minimal gaming, does it really matter which processor you have?

when i say min gaming i mean i will be playing world of warcraft, some crysis, and any other new game that will be coming out. I know i wont be able to play crysis and a lot of new games on all high settings, but because of my graphics card, and I dont want my processor to lower my fps or slow me down when doing this type of stuff.

dont worry... most of the time its the GPU limiting what the laptop can do

I just want to say that I made the exact same decision under what I imagine are fairly similar circumstances. As I understand it, the difference between the two processors practically is about 5-7 fps, on some games, on some settings.

Negligible if you ask me. You will also draw slightly less power and (I would imagine) run a bit cooler. If you ever feel the need, my guess would be the T8100 will be more OCable than the T8300, and it is also an upgradable component.
