I ordered my Studio XPS 16 last week with a T9550 (2.66 Ghz). Today I notice they have added the 3.06 Ghz option and replaced my T9550 with a T9600 (2.8 Ghz). The new processor is at a slightly lower price than before as well.

I am wondering if it is worth cancelling my order and ordering again to get the new processor?

You can't cancel it now, too late.

Wow, thats a nice comparison tool. From the looks of it there is not that much difference.

Actually, there's a HUGE difference in something not so many people tend to think about - but should - regarding laptop spec: the power consumption, and thus, battery life and heating.

The T9600 is only 140mhz faster than the T9550, however it runs at 35 watt TDP over the T9550's 25 watt TDP - the latter will run considerably cooler relative to the increase in CPU power of the former.

Unless you frequently move around big files and edit movies/music etc., there's not much point nuking the CPU choice: the 4670 can only run games so fast; after a while - perhaps around 2.6ghz dual core - gaming will no longer be improved by a faster CPU.

Considering heat dissipation and power consumption, and unless you really need a blitzingly fast CPU, go for the T9550, or even a P8600.

That's a great point. I looked while I was researching this and I thought the T9550 was 35W as it is listed that way on Intel's page:

    T-series of intel cpu's = 35W
    P-series of intel cpu's = 25W
