He said I could choose a Digital Camera I've been looking at if I purchase, and *throw it in the deal*... :)

Seems like I'm missing BT or something?? And, I can spend the extra $80 on the 9Cell batt' if I want ~ or pick one up at 20% savings right now (price matched thru EPP). :)

What do you think? Any tweaking / suggestions?
My uses: Heavy Multimedia, a bit of gaming, multi-tasking, etc..etc. ;)

    Thanks in advance! :D

I'd say you don't really need the SSD, but hey if you've got the money go for it! They're lovely to have, and they really help booting up and opening programs. I'd also go for the 9 cell as well, it's a good deal. Get rid of the MacAfee program though, it's bloated and will just give you a headache if you actually try to use it. There are much better free spyware programs like AVG and Avast. Other than that, it looks solid

What camera are they going to throw in for free? Lemme get your reps name and number! :D

Oh, and about the SSD, I wouldn't dare order that system without it! The price they charge is peanuts compared to what the drive actually costs ($800).

Thanks, I'm torn on the SSD..I've heard so many advantages of it. :) I like having the extra batt'. I purchased the 9 cell with my 1530 also..That was nice savings *at purchase*..(it's later where it costs, more).

Oh yeah...McAfee...is gonna go *out the door* per se, and Avira AV 9 installed upon receipt & clean install. Actually I can have him remove any AV from the config. (I also rec'd a nice config on the Studio 14z..but just torn right now).

The 14z and 1340 are really different system, TBH.

Again, the samsung SSD Dell is using is one of the best money can buy currently.

I remember you advising on the SSD. :) And, most I've talked to have said *get it* ;)

Yes, they are...no Optical Drive on the 14z, etc..

I've been wanting a 13" for so long, also :) I will prolly keep the SSD in my config. ;)

Why aren't you getting the LED screen. It is absolutely stunning and can't even begin to compare to the regular screen.

OMG..thank you! I didn't even realize that he left that out..and I didn't notice..LED was a must for my next lappy... :D

Checking spec pricing for the add...The LED option is the only option availi' now on the EPP site when customizing! :) Hmmmm.

    Which are most going with?:
*Slot Load DVD+/-RW (DVD/CD read/write) [Included in Price]
    *CD/DVD writer (DVD+/-RW) +Roxio Creator 10 Premier-Ultimate Burn/Authoring [add $79]

They're the same thing, one just has software with it. The software isn't worth the $80 IMO though, because you can get free programs like Alcohol 120% that do the same thing. Also, did you get Bluetooth? It didn't look like it was listed in the OP. If not, I'd recommend it. It's nice to have.

:D Then, I just saved and additional $80! ;) I have to add the BT, I have it on my 1530 and my Mini 9. It's a must have. (I think every Dell Lappy should come standard with it & as with LED screens).

I can't wait til this is finally accomplished..remember all this back from 9/08?

I love the LED technology. It's really nice. I just wish it'd come down in price on televisions, and gain more usage in that department. The picture quality and color is just amazing.

LED is very nice! I will have it on the 1340 if I get it. I have it on my Sharp 37" and luv it!

I just configured a 1340 on dell.com vs. EPP, w/a 25% coupon code for pricing above $1,599..and it came out cheaper than my pricing.

I added: LED, BT, also. I can post the config, if you want to see!
Oh, it only has the 2 year warranty. So, that could make a difference.

It might be worth it to check eBay and see what they have. I picked up mine there with the specs in my sig for only $875. If you get a deal like i did you could easily add the extra things like an SSD in, or even find one with an SSD already in it.

You have the specs that I like if ever I was going to buy an SXPS 1340! :) LED upgrade is a nice touch though. I think Dell would default the LED screen later this year, as with the trend with moving away from CCFL.

So the M1530 just got its little brother... :p :D

I will check it..but will try and work something out with my EPP Rep.
You really like your XPS 1340 a lot? :)

Thanks.... :) I like the specs..I just don't want to overkill or overpower myself with anything (that I could save on, and apply towards accessories, as such)!!

I can't wait for LED to become the *norm*.

Aaaah I was thinking, little sista! But, there's already 2 girls so, why not a little bro' for them! ROFL! :p

Here you go! I got it at www.xpbargains.com!! One of my fav' sites. :D

    Thanks Cin...

I'm so torn right now, I had my heart set on a xps 13. I even bought the 9 cell battery when it was 25% off last week. Then I convinced myself that it was too much, and for my needs I could get by on a netbook. But now this 25% code is leaning me back to the 1340. ahhh this is killing me.. (sorry to hijack your thread btw. )

I'm torn too. I was waiting for the Red in this for soo long. And, I've been pricing this between EPP and home. And, I just repriced and it's cheaper thru Home w/the 25% off!

And, no you didn't *hijack* my thread. I need to know what the best options are for me! After all, a lappy is an investment for a minimum of 2 years..(at least for me) :D

So, if we can all help each other on our search, the better! ;) It's cool!

    Here is what I did:
    Same spec's thru EPP & Home..(pic depicts home)...EPP: $2,102, less $309 instant discount, less 7% $125.51, Subt $1,667.49.
    Thru Dell Home: Total $2,112, Less 25% $529, Subt $1,584. I didn't do the 3/4% DPA Discount.
What do you all think of this config? :D

Looks like a good config. However, I'd say skip the SSD for now because they are still too expensive for most uses. The Red looks really good too.

Cin looks solid! If I were to get it, that is the exact config I would get!

To atbnet: yes SSD prices are still high right now, but the 256gb SSD is only 250 more I believe and it's retail value is around 800. It will be a couple of years before oem ssd's are that price.

It's shipping out Monday, probably arriving by Friday
    I ended up going with:

    P8600
    4GB DDR3
    LED screen
    9500m Hybrid SLI
320GB HDD (adding a 128GB SSD from Newegg for the laptop, and using the 320 as an external)
    Bluetooth
    6 Cell

    So yep, pretty similar.

Very nice, and yes very similar!
You will having some savings there with the purchase of the SSD from Newegg!

Well, you will have it by this Friday!!! Things like this make me want to order!

I was going to remove the 4GB and go with 3GB, but it's only a $35 difference..so not much vs. purchasing from newegg, etc. ;)

You'll like having all 4 GB. You'll be using most of it when gaming with vista, and plus the IGP eats up some of that memory too, so 256mb of it will be dedicated to onboard graphics. I've got 8 GB on my desktop and I love it.

    Yeah, I think 4GB will be very sufficient..I have 3GB on my 1530 right now..and it's like..Yeah, add more! :D

I looked at the pricing for the 6GB + for the 1340, and didn't bother to add it..I can't imagine paying that price for 6GB

Now what warranty do you have with yours? I've got the 2 year in the most recent, and don't know if I should bump to the 3 yr.

I bought mine factory refurbed on eBay for $875, so it came with a 1 year in home warranty. Once I register the laptop I'll probably call Dell and ask about buying a 2 year at least. With the rate technology increases though, I'm not sure I'll have the laptop more than 3 years, because that's when I graduate high school, and I'll be needing a new laptop then anyway.

Oh yes, again..very sweet deal! Nice thing with the warranties...they are usually upgradable at any time :)

Wonder, if I should bump' down on the warranty to one year, and add it later..for addtl added savings? I know my bro' does this on his lappys with Dell. They call him, and try to sell him the addtl warranty he lets them *dangle* abit and he can get a good price! :) (He works from home, for his business).

You should add it w/in a reasonable amount of time. But, you can add it after 30 days, yes! ;) In fact sometimes, if you don't have it..and you call Tech Support for an issue, they will try and sell it to you! Imagine that! :p :)

once you get your computer, all you need to do is enter your service tag on the dell website, click on warranty status, then select purchase option, then click on complete care and pay for it. it will upgrade your warranty to complete care . This part of the dell site has been down for the pass few day.

it is $99-$120 most of the time to upgrade your warranty to complete care

Yours is very nice, also! :D And, you have less than 2 days before it's arrival! :D
Did you get a warranty, outside of the standard one year?

    Cin ;) :)
