Apparently. But they don't do Sunday or Monday.
According to their website:
http://fedex.com/us/services/us/index.html#app9
Look under "Residential Home Delivery" and then the "1 - 7 business days"
Service Days Tuesday–Saturday. Delivery is between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.
-
-
Interesting...I always get confused with FedEx because sometimes my packages come from the regular FedEx truck and other times with the Home Delivery vehicle. Never on Saturdays though.
-
Well it's out on a truck for delivery.
Can't wait. What is yours up to?
-
I received my laptop about 2 hours ago. Loving it so far, especially after reformatting.
-
Congrats on finally getting it!
-
If it's standard delivery, they don't ship on mondays.
-
It's overnight so I'm hoping they do.
I posted that whole thing in here thinking this was the order status thread. -.- -
The notebook has extremely superior build quality. Its really nice to use something for once that wasn't just thrown together.
-
If you haven't already, go online and chat with tech support to get your 130w ac brick. It really does make a difference
-
Just to clarify, you get the slim 130W adapter, not the brick, right?
-
yea, check out this pic that someone posted in the Solution thread for the throttling. As you can see its the exact same adapter just a little thicker but still very slick which is nice.
-
well its slim... about 2x thick as the 90w... thank-goodness its not like the old xps m17
-
Maybe you should take a picture of how thick they are...
-
That's not my pic, I am getting mine on Monday but I definitely will take a picture to show the comparison.
-
It doesn't look too bad...probably about the same size as the PA-12 I currently carry with my Inspiron 6000. So much for a decrease in carrying weight! Still wish I could keep the 90W.
-
Honestly, I was gonna keep mine until I thought they could very easily charge me if they don't receive it back. That would be $117. That's a lot for an adapter, a spare could always be bought on eBay for a third of that later on
-
I have to say, there is really only one thing I do not like about this system.
The 9 cell battery hump is just annoying.. -
Another plus for the 130W adapter is that it has a much longer cord. I would say at least four feet longer. It is heavier than the 90W but while carrying it around in my backpack I couldn't tell a difference. It's probably only a pound heavier.
-
My wife has a Studio 17 with the 9 cell and I, too, hated it. I sacrificed some battery time so the 1647 would have a flat base. Some people really like it though because it allows the heat to escape more easily.
-
Yeah that is very annoying having it on your lap however battery life is pretty good. I might get the 6 cell off of eBay just as a spare though.
-
Well it's noticeable lol. It definitely protrudes maybe an inch out or more.
-
At least my laptop will mostly be on my desk so the battery hump shouldn't be too much of an issue. My only concern will be how annoying it'll be carrying it in a backpack.
-
Before I returned Studio 17 (also with a bulky 9 cell) I tried it in a back pack and it was bulky but bearable. XPS shouldn't be a problem at all.
-
If you have a backpack big enough to fit the laptop, the 9-cell isn't going to be an issue at all. I bought a Targus backpack just for this laptop and its tight, but it fits and is really easy to carry.
-
The 9 cell adds maybe an inch at most.
-
Booq makes some of the best bags on the market. You get what you pay for. Check them out. One of the few brands that makes a bag large enough to fit a 17" laptop, DSLR and bunch of other gear. Awesome.

Is this laptop getting an upgraded GPU anytime soon?
-
I think it'll be a tight squeeze in my current Swiss Gear bag. My Inspiron 6000 is 14" long while the 1647 was listed as around 15". That extra inch might do me in but I still have an old Targus bag I might be able to break out of storage to carry the 1647 around.
-
We don't know. I suspect not, however. The laptop is selling pretty well with the old GPU in it, so Dell has no incentive to give us something more expensive for free. Don't worry about it though -- the 4670 is quite good.
-
I got the Mamba bag and the Vyper XL2 sleeve, love their products.
-
Does your 1645 fit well inside Vyper XL2?
-
I can give you my experience with Booq Boa XL. It is designed for 17" laptop and Studio 17 which is slightly larger than typical 17" fits just fine.
If you go to Booq site, you'll see that they give precise dimensions for laptop pocket for every single one of their bags. Just measure your laptop and find the bag you like accordingly. You won't go wrong. They are very well designed and built. -
It fits with the 9cell. Its a little snug, but no problem zipping it closed.
-
-
That's exactly what I wanted to know, thank you. I am going to get one of those myself now.
-
Hey, I am thinking about getting a cooler as well, what's your temp now??
mine is about 48-50 degree standby, and 70 full load, (I have changed the thermal paste to AS 5), I still want it go lower... -
Glad that I can help, hope you like it.
-
it went from 50 idle to 45 and from 68 load to 65-67
-
Well I'm loving this laptop. The SSD especially.
Cpu aint bad either
-
well, i am waiting for mine.
I have already purchased a 60gb ssd, and my plan is to replace the ODD with a 2nd HDD caddy -- so that way, i will put my 500GB 7200 rpm hdd as a second hdd, and use the ssd for OS and programs..etc..
the 2nd HDD is for bulk storage.
... and i and purchased a esata/usb TO sata cable to use the DVD drives for the rare occasion that i need to use it.
.....................all said, still waiting for the laptop. -
For those that have a 9-cell on their laptops, does the battery fit properly? I just noticed that my 9-cell kind of sticks up (above the keyboard where the battery slides in) on the left side when you sit the laptop down.
While this isn't THAT serious, I'm just wondering because it might be scraping the LCD screen every time I close and open the laptop.
If not, should I contact Dell for a replacement? -
I have the same problem, i dont think it could scrape the lcd. Jus looks bad. I think alot of people hav this problem
-
Hi charlielor,
I noticed your signature, 1520 to 6300-N...
Did you connect all three antennas on the 6300-N (3x3)? If so, how?
From what I understand, Dell wires the 1647 for 2 antennas (1520 and 6300 use 2 / 2x2).
Ultimate-N 6300 Spec:
-
I'm waiting on my 6300-N to come in from China (ordered it from eBay) which is why there's that "--->", but from what I saw in my 1647, I noticed three wire (Black, Grey and White) in which Black and White are connected to my 1520.
I believe the 6300-N uses 3 /3x3 connectors.
There's also somebody here that is using a 6300-N in their 1647.
Alright, just didn't want to think that it's a defect. It does make the laptop look ugly. -
This is great news.... I don't have my 1647 yet but I called Dell last month and support told me they wire them for 2 antennas only, figures that info was not accurate
3x3 is what I want. -
6300-N is definitely 3x3.
-
I found a quick fix for the 9-cell battery issue with it budging out on the left side facing the LCD.
By using a index card, I was able to fold it to fit right under the extended part of the 9-cell (that extends to the right if looking at the battery). With that, it evens out the surface of the battery and the laptop, making it look nicer. -
thanks for the fix
-
Mine is come with Centrino 6200. Thats two antennas I believe. How hard is to upgrade to the 6300? Are the the same size - half size mini cards?
-

Installing the wifi card shouldn't be that hard according to their service manual. It'll be a couple of weeks before I get mine from China, so once I do, I'll update on which cables goes where.
