OK! Lately, I have been looking at the XPS forum and seen lots of sad, almost *doom and gloom* posts about the XPS line....the 1330 and 1530...and it makes me sad. :(

There is a reason why we all ordered either notebook ~ because we liked it and it was the one we chose! ;) :)

So I am creating this thread for peep's to say *positive things* only about their XPS's...no negativity!

Why not have *one thread* filled good things! ;) :) Good = happiness = positive thinking! Life is not all bad, it's what you make of it ~ and how you handle the barriers that may be put in front of you ;) :)

So I will roll with it first:

I ordered my 1530 back in 1/08..after months of *mental torture* I put myself thru and simply *procrastinating* lulz  :D ...I looked at the 1420, the 1520 and the 1330..and ended up with the 1530~! :D

I am very happy with it! :D It's my first lappy ever, and the power machine of mine, has very well justified my purchase of it! ;) :)

When I have called Dell for any problems...my issues were taken care of! Another thing that make's me happy! ;) :)

I am happy that it continually works for me on a daily basis... :D

I am happy that I get lot's of compliments on my red, *sleek / sexy* 1530 ;) :)

I am happy that when my 15 pound *manic, and crazy cat* Dweezil, sits on it accidentally *when shut down/lid closed* it still works for me!!!! Frankly, I think he does this on purpose :p

    So, let's roll! ;) :)

    Cin ;) :)

i started looking at laptops in april... need a light one for college, light gaming(going into computer science, probably going to bring my laptop around campus quite often... dont game much, so dont really need a 8600 or 8800...

the XPS m1330 is the only $1300 4 pound 13.3" laptop with DVD drive and dedicated graphics....

i am happy that i got such a great deal on a laptop whose specs fits me, with a 4 yr warranty to ensure that it lasts thru college no matter what happens, though the GPU problems could mean some bad luck :(

No, not even close to an XPS M1530.

    To continue positiveness:

I ordered my XPS M1530 because I've worked with them before and I love them. I love the look - the power - the support - the sheer feeling of owning an XPS M1530.

The power amazes me - it runs all of my games nicely, the screen is amazing (not many others offer an LED LCD), the nice savings. I love it. I've even overclocked my GFX card, and it's one of the FAULTY ONES!!

Even though I returned my xps m1530, there were quite a few things that I did like about it:

    -awesome design with metal accents
    -good value
-the accessories (sleeve, earbuds, dvd case) ;)
    -great keyboard
    -solid build-quality

That picture makes me HAPPY !!!
I am "cautiously thrilled" with my New m1330...it's whisper-quiet, FAST, light, and the screen makes watching movies "Sheer Pleasure!" If I could have, I would have opted for integrated video card but I am going to think positive thoughts and hope that I won't have an issue with it. It exudes "quality" in every aspect.

I never saw a m1330 before I bought mine, but when I saw it I was shocked, the materials are super premium, nice finish, one of the most powerful laptops I ever used and saw.

I feel that I choosed the right laptop. And now modded it, I can even play games :D at "normal" temps.

    Positive aspects of m1330:

    - sleek, form factor, including aluminum palm rests and magnesium alloy chassis
    - dedicated graphics in small form factor
    - easily upgradeable/easy access to CPU socket; don't have to disassemble whole laptop to gain access like with HP's
    - excellent CCFL screen

So many emoticons in OP. @_@

Though I must say that I agree, people whine too much about minor things, Dell XPS line is one of the best the company has to offer. These notebooks have good hardware and look better than most of the notebooks in market. :)

i ordered my xps m1530 about a couple of months ago, with lots of patience ( spent most of my time here at notebookreview.com ) when it finally arrived at 4 am when my dad brought it in its bag, i was cheering quietly, i was the only one awake at those hours waiting for a darn computer, eventually my cheers got louder and louder, WOW, YAY! NICE!!!, my sister got up and said, Darn it go to sleep!!!. and quietly i sat at the tv room with only one light on, as i opened the beauty, and as she booted up, a smile came up on my face, ITS ALIVE!!!! it came out of me, some moments later, my sister was in poking her head out her room's door, KOER SHUT UP!!! i sat there silently.
i took a good look at my brand new Vista, closed it, and went to sleep in peace.

as i laid down i thought, this computer will travel the world with me, it will be my sailing companion on all my trips down the Pacific, what more could i ask?

a computer is more than a machine, its your loyal companion!

Dude that is EXACTLY what happened with me. I turned it on, if for a moment, at night, saw Vista, and turned it off and went to sleep with joy.

I like my XPS M1530, its great. It's fast and quiet, screen is amazing..I haven't had any of those problems that were on these boards. My only concerns were with buying stuff for it, like a lock, headset, etc.

It's really built solid..like wow. Being my first laptop, its super cool.

    LOL..see guys...Happiness does shine thru.... :D ;)

Aww jeeze...getting really sappy here! But it's a good thing!

The other thing I enjoy about my 1530, is when it *goes to sleep* ~ and I just touch one of keys on the keyboard...it actually starts right back up! :D

And, when I *multi-task* it also doesn't *freeze up* on me! It's fast and speedy :) :)

Now, my old desktop (diff. brand) never did these things...it froze up instead!~ :p

i've had many laptops in the past, including previous XPS models. my m1530 is easily one of the most powerful notebooks i've come across. i really like the image and real estate on my WUXGA screen. it is multitaskin at a whole nother level. love the fit and finish. the build materials are subtle, but very clean and solid. to me, the m1530 is just handsome (like myself :p). so handsome that i ordered everything around my notebook to match it.

    - black and silver logitech z-4
    - brushed aluminum and black nzxt cryo LX
    - black and silver 8GB cruzer titanium
    - black with aluminum trim razer exactmat + exactrest
    - black and aluminum USB hub
    - silver glass eurway desk
    - black leather and silver ottoman :D
    - black and silver mesh chair

even my duvet cover and pillows kinda match :p

At first I was going to get the Vaio FW mainly because of Centrino 2 and that it was going to be new and powerful. At the last second, I went for the M1530. Why? Because the XPS has been out long enough to unveil its flaws. It's not a bad thing at all, it just means that if there's a problem (IF), the answer will be on this forum. That's what I love about my XPS no unwanted surprises, just all the nice ones. It's fast and it's built to last. Although I've been so careful with it, it's ridiculous. The first time I saw the box, I did a huge fist pump. I feel sorry for Apple, they have some serious redesigning to do. I plan to upgrade to 3gb ram when it seems like it'll need it, but for now ReadyBoost should do the trick.

I love my 1530. I think everything about it is awesome. There are absolutely NO defects in workmanship or quality that I can find, it came with all the accessories, its blazing fast and can run games that choke my dimension 2350 (like unreal tournament 3) and its sexy as hell. 'Nuff said.

I confess I don't have one yet. However, the positive thoughts are a nice change of pace. I have been VERY serious thinking of the 1330 since it is the most within my budget, although a little bit over. When I saw it in the store I was impressed with the heft, and feel of it.

Got my 9-cell today and I don't understand why people freak out about it barely sticking out? Love the propping and venting it provides as I was angling it up with a book before the 9-cell arrived. Even with Nvidia card + Wifi, it says I'm getting 5-5.75 hrs :D Plus, for some reason, my m1330 finds my wireless connection waaay faster than my Dell d630. And BLUE is my favorite color as well. Was crossing my fingers to get a Blue one but Black is always Sleek.

Sweet! I really enjoy the 9 cell batt! Love the elevation it gives along with the ventilation! And, since I have my lappy in my lap 98% of the time..that extra lift it gives in the back, does me good! ;) :)

Blue is a such a lovely color!!! ;) :) Either way each color is fine...it's what the lappy does for you that counts! ;) :)

Though, it would be kind of cool to have a blue XPS with some black edging to it!

There are a few things I do not like about my XPS M1530 (mostly due to Nvidia's lack of quality control), but for the most part I am pretty happy with this Dell laptop.

    1. The quality of the materials used on the laptop is top notch, the aluminum feels great and looks great too.

    2. The CPU is pretty powerful as is the GPU, and yet I can still manage 4 hours with the 9 cell battery with wi-fi on. Similar laptops from HP and others generally have 6 cell batteries only and struggle to last for 2.5 hours. It's ahead of practically every 15.4" laptop in terms of battery life.

    3. The slot load DVD drive is great because you do not need to have a mechanical tray slide out and possibly break or hit something.

    4. The WUXGA screen has a mind blowing amount of pixels in such a small space. Great for multi tasking, and video/photo editing.

    5. Despite its small and thin size, and lack of a highend videocard its still plenty powerful for most modern games at medium settings or higher. It even beats out HP's DV5T with the 9600M GT 512MB DDR2 in 3DMark06 (by about 200 points).

    6. The fingerprint reader is acctually useful. I have certain folders and files setup so I have to swipe my finger before they can be opened. Also useful for fast logging in and no need to remember a password. Before I got this laptop, I was expecting that I would never ever use this feature.

Now if only it had a good webcam...

LOL - "Elevation" - that's the word I was looking for !!!! Yes, it elevates it and IMHO, barely sticks out at least compared to the d630 where it sticks out so much in the front it actually acts as a wrist rest. Btw, I like the look of the fake leather skin for the m1330 although I might wait for it to be available in Red or Blue.

As for the finger reader, I need to keep practicing - keeps saying "bad quality swipe" LOL

DFI..those are really nice comments! I like the brushed aluminum..nice and smooth! Looks great also! ;) :)

Yes! That's the word *elevation*...I don't even notice it sticking out on my 1530..just the slanted lift..and I find that to be to my advantage! And, it truly does make a nice *wrist rest* from that. ;) :)

    ;) :) Cin.

The screen is amazing - I can now work in the garden.

I love the feel of the lid and the aluminium.

I like the slot loading drive

    I love the battery life

    Its not too heavy

It fits in my bag (the main reason for moving from a 17" screen to 15.4 so I can take it to work)

I'm bumping this thread....it's a glorius Saturday morning, a great start to the day!...so let's hear all the love for the XPS line..... ;) :)

    My two happy's:

I am happy that this morning when my evil cat Dweezil decided to *run* across the *keyboard*....that my 1530 *held steady* and there were no prob's at all with it. insert: :whew: lol.
(I got up and walked away & didn't close the lid cover)...  My own fault..I should've known he was *up to no good*, by the way he was staring at things  :) I am always very careful with my lappy, but this morning.... oish.

I am also happy that I can sit outdoors this morning with my 1530, drinking my coffee, listening to music......and planning the day and such ;) The lovely wireless connection ;) :)

    Cin ;) :)

The only doom I feel is that people keep buying XPS right now to the point where it's almost pointless for dell to even release centrino 2 when they can sell lower performing laptops that are cheaper to make with an amazing profit ratio. I just wish people stopped buying the out dated xps so dell is forced to release a Centrino 2 with longer batter life, higher performance, and non bugged graphics card.

Hey...this isn't a *doom* thread...it's a post things that you are happy with your XPS thread.......

This thread is meant to be *positive*...thanks ;) :)

So if you have a XPS and have good, things to say about it post it here...or if you are even looking and you have reason that you are *happy*...do the same! :)

Well for the brief time I owned my M1730 I was happy with it. I returned it because it was a lot larger than I had imagined and really didn't fit well with my desk configuration. Had I had a different setup it would have fit perfectly.
