i have been looking in the Dell Oulet centre recently and there are a lot of bargain SXPS 1340s. i hav read on reviews there have been problems with build quality and heat. are these problems for both the 9500 model or does the model with the g210 gpu suffer too. the reason is i dont want another notebook with heating problems. my current sony has the dreaded 8400m gt which idles at 64C which makes the laptop quite warm underneath.

alos how is the battery life on the 1340

i was also looking at the new vostro although its expensive with the dedicated gpu and apparently the battery life isnt good

IMO the XPS 1340 was a star-crossed laptop. I have read about a lot of MOBO problems as well as GPU issues. It looks like the model's issues were not limited to a single model. Also, the prices don't look that great for yesterdays hardware.

You have some links to any great deals to look at?

4 cell battery in the Vostro 3300 is its weakest link.

yh i really like the vostro till i read that and id rather not get the xps with the problems its having. im not a huge fan of the studio 15 cos it seems a bit plasticky and a bit big. does the extended battery on the vostro stick out a lot.
