For a while now ive been having problems with the 2 USB ports on the right hand side of my M1730, Dell have replaced them once but the problem returned.

If i`m using anything that requires USB power in the 2 right hand side USB ports they stop working after, as an example i have a Cryo LX laptop cooler that is designed to run on a 5V supply i believe via USB, after ive finished using the laptop cooler and i connect something like my USB dongle for my mouse into any of the right hand ports it won`t work, neither will an external mains powered DVD drive if its connected to the same ports.

Dell have suggested over the phone that a microsoft update could have caused this given that the same problem persists after replacement USB`s being fitted, thats a fair neough suggestion from Dell but here is the part that i can`t get my head round.

Lets say it was a microsoft update that was causing this problem then wouldn`t it affact all my USB ports ? The M1730 has 4 USB ports which i believe are all USB 2.0, why would my rear USB port work and my left hand side USB port of which ive never had a problem with those 2 with the same things connected that require USB power.

The 2 problematic right hand side USB ports can stop working for a day or 2 after something has been connected that requires USB power then they will suddenly come back to life and work again.

Also ive had the following blue screen appear a couple of times when ive tried to shut down my laptop after something has been in the right hand side USB port that requires USB power, it said BUG CODE USB DRIVER on the blue screen followed by a page full of information which obviously you can`t read quick enough as it dissapears after a few seconds.

This is the info it gave about the blue screen

I`m sure you can see from the above why i`m baffled, its frustrating to be honest because most of the time i`m 2 USB ports down and the dongle for my mouse takes up one of them... Does anyone have an opinion what i can suggest to Dell.
